Liverpool News: Martin Zvimendi's rival Arne Slott re-signs
The international break may be over, but the news from Anfield doesn't stop.
Liverpool have won six of their seven Premier League games in 2024-25 to take the lead. With three wins in the cup, Arne Slott is set for his most testing season yet.
The Reds face some formidable opposition in the coming weeks, including Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid, who could test Slott's depth and make him regret not signing Martin Zvimendi.
Here's the latest news from Anfield.
Manchester City eyes Zvimendi transfer
Manchester City are reportedly plotting to give Liverpool a run for their money with former transfer target Martin Zvimendi. The Spain United striker turned down a move to Anfield late in the summer transfer window, choosing to remain at Real Sociedad despite negotiations between the clubs.
Arne Slott and Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes wanted a move, but the 25-year-old Zvimendi spurned them. According to Spanish newspapers, City want to use his €60 million release clause.

Former Ireland defender Richard Dunne has told Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to find a way out of Anfield. Arne Slott wanted Kelleher to stay and the Irish No. 1 stayed despite Liverpool paying ВЈ25m to sign Georgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in 2025. But Dan believes the 25-year-old should try to move again, telling BetVictor: "When I look at Kelleher I don't see the difference between him and Alisson. He needs to leave Anfield and play as a regular.
Liverpool have signed Giorgi Mamaldashvili, who will join us next season, but unfortunately Kelleher is out of the running. Liverpool are unlikely to let him go this season, but he needs to prove his talent when he gets the chance in cup matches and international matches.
