  The National Park Service issues permits for many activities in Zion National Park. This includes canyoning, hiking, camping, hosting weddings, and more.   Scientific and Collecting Permit Process

  Research within the National Park Bureau (NPS) is also an opportunity to advance scientific knowledge and play a role as a steward to protect nature and cultural resources for future generations. All scientific and research activities conducted in Zion have acquired scientific research and collection permit. Research permission is not only provided to park managers with valuable knowledge for decisio n-making, but also to prevent the value of the park, the experience of visitors, and the park resources from being impaired.   Facilities and equipment

  Campsite: There are two campsites, a total of 72 units. The campsite has a shaded table, grill, water, and toilet. There are also garbage dumps and shower. All campsites are reserved. There is a 1 4-day camp limit in 30 days.

  RV camp: You can use an RV site that can connect to power and water supply.

  There is a campsite for groups for groups, and up to 45 people can accommodate. These sites can be camped overnight with a reservation system. Camping charges and day use charges are $ 20 per night for Nevada people, and for no n-Nevada people for $ 25 per night.

  Picnic / Day use: Atlattle Rock, Seven Sisters, Cabin, Meass Tank Trailhead, and the shade area with a toilet in White Dombs. No reservation is required for day use.

  Hiking: There are many attractive hiking courses. Please contact the Visitor Center for suggestions for various lengths and day trip hiking for terrain.

  Visitor Information: The Visitor Center exhibits on the park and nearby regions geology, ecology, pr e-history, and history. It is strongly recommended to drop in early after entering the park. It also sells postcards, books and souvenirs. The visitor center is open every day from 9am to 4pm.

  Annual trail closures: For the safety of guests, staff and local rescue services, many trails in the park are closed each year during the warmer months (May-September). This year they will be closed from May 15th until September 30th, 2024. These trails include: White Domes Loop, Fire Wave/Seven Wonders Loop/Pastel Canyon/Pink Canyon, Pinnacles Loop, Prospect Trail, Arrowhead Trail, Natural Arch Trail (except Arch Rock), and Charlie's Spring. These trails have a history of frequent medical calls, search and rescue operations and fatalities during this time of year. Unfortunately, there is more demand than we can safely manage.

  **Hiking in high heat can be dangerous, even on short trails. Hydration and electrolyte replacement are very important. Be prepared for heat and unexpected mishaps. Please note that trails in Valley of Fire often feel much longer than their listed distances due to terrain and weather.

  Field Notes

  • No reservations are required for day use of the park.
  • Ride permitted routes and park only in designated areas on the shoulder of the road. Motor vehicles are not permitted on the trails.
  • Using ride-sharing services such as Uber or Lyft may leave you stranded in the park.
  • Camping is permitted only at designated campground sites.
  • Bonfires are permitted only in designated grills and fireplaces.
  • Removing, disturbing, or damaging historic structures, artifacts, rocks, plants, fossils, or other features is prohibited. State and federal laws protect the area and its resources.
  • Pets are permitted, but on a leash no longer than 10 feet long. Pets are not allowed in the Visitor Center.
  • All artifacts and other traces of early civilizations and recent history are protected by state and federal law.
  • Please conserve water.
  • Please use the trash cans provided.
  • The park is open from sunrise to sunset, except for camping in the campground or group campground. After sunset, activities are restricted in those areas.
  • Rock climbing is limited to certain areas in the park. Contact the Visitor Center.
  • The use of drones and remote control airplanes is prohibited.

  Natural resources/ climate

  In this area, the plant communities are dominated by the widespread Cleosote Bush, Blow Bush, and Britter Bush. Several cacti, such as bevertails and cola, are often seen.   History of Valley of Fire State Par k-Established in 1935

  The Valley of Fire is composed of a bright red astec sandstone, surrounded by gray and brown limestone mountains.
