When we arrived at Southfork Ranch, we were greeted by a little donkey named Johnny Cash. He wore a eucalyptus around his neck and offered us a Frosty Light from the basket of his Nantucket bike. Deep Texas, magical Baro Beer. Welcome to the Dallas Cattle Baron Ball.

Big Dallas Energy at the Cattle Baron Ball

Over the past 51 years, what started as a neighborhood party has grown into the world's largest one-night event for the American Cancer Society. You hear this line a lot because it's a flex worth bending.

As arguably the most Dallas event in Dallas, it makes sense that the Baron Cattle Ball (CBB) would be held at Southfork Ranch.

100 women, called "Baronesses," make up the executive committee of the event (full disclosure: I'm one of them). It's a night of spectacle and spectacle, but before the glamour comes 364 days of hard work.

Last year's 50th Ball, co-chairs Andrea Cheek and Isabel Novakoff Higginbotham transformed CBB by producing a record-breaking night with Shania Twain as headliner, grossing $5. 5 million, and with style. Leaders are sparing no effort to beat cancer.

Even with a roadmap for success, using it as a successor to such a historic night is still a tall order. For the 51st Ball, co-chairs Laura Faris and Marjon Zabich Henderson focused on "New Horizons," which will kick off the next 50 years.

Desktop Computers Crash

The horizon shone brighter than ever on September 28th, as Faris, Henderson and their committee hard at work, pounding American Idol winner and new judge Carrie Underwood into the night. The co-chairs, along with beer bros, greeted VIP ticket holders who arrived at 6pm to hear '90s country tribute band Straight Tequila Night. (Another major incentive to arrive on time is to see the daytime 'fits' and take advantage of the golden hour light for your photos.)

"Matching" hit

Faris, a spancall of Chartre's, combined Stetson's cowboy hat, par t-time boots, and diamonds direct jewelry. Henderson, who supervises brand experience and special events at Nehman Marcus, is Ralph Lauren's denim skirt, Cami bustier, Shikada's diamond necklace, M. L. Ladies hat, sentimental sapphire boots and earrings donated by her husband. I got it.

At the ball, you can enjoy the best people watching in the city. Nothing is too short. Nothing is too flashy. Your "overkill" is not too much for CBB. My only question is, "Why don't you wear a hat?"

The personal highlights are Chanel's legendary Paris Dallas 2014 Collection Hailey Luden's Cross Body Gun Holster (Note: I thoroughly examined the security in a firearm ban case! Chris Pavin chocolate brown Velvet's Gucci Blazer, Madison Stroad's Sta u-Green Mini Dress, Dallas Maverick's head coach Jason Kid, was focusing on the cowboy aesthetics.

For men who are waiting all day on Sunday night, this event is an unusual donation event that you can actually attend and enjoy. "I can wear jeans and boots," said a husband, about a collection of his wife and friends (I almost called them WAG).

Lucase. Milon Crosby. City boots. Petit Paloma Tekobas Lady's M. L. Gang was all there!
