Qin Emperor Tomb

The Qin Emperor Tomb is known as a lif e-sized Terracotta Warriors.

This ultr a-real sculpture is an important work in Chinese sculpture history, and has been prized as gaining the knowledge of social history and military history at the time. In 246 BC, the Emperor Qin arranged the burial area himself. Terracotta Warriors were buried with him to govern another empire in the world. From the three major pit, more than 8, 000 warriors, horses, and many elaborate burials have been found.

When I visited China early in 2020, I was finally able to see the Terracotta Warriors. The size of the scale is unimaginable. Standing in front of the main host makes you feel like you're really in front of the army, such as the past ghost. And when you go around each image, there are so many unique details. Each of the 8, 000 statues will be displayed in Western museums to stand out. It's strange that rulers spend so much time and effort for fake army. But the result is surprising.

You may be wondering why it is not a 5 star. I don't think it's enough to get 5 stars. You can visit in the afternoon and you don't have to dive for a few days.

There are many buses from Xi'an. The way to go to chinatravelGuide is listed. However, the two transit I rode seemed to be posted. I took a bus from Xi'an Airport to Eastern East and took a local bus. It's very fun. On the way back, I used a sightseeing bus to Xi'an Station. Note that the tomb is a mass tourist destination, is organized very efficiently and very Chinese.

During a stay

I'm a passionate fan of Xi'an. Xi'an has many silk fabrics archeological sites, and there are also notable test sites, such as the walls and mosques. Because it was an emperor city, there are many other temples and palaces.

With the Chinese Shinkansen, many other cities and archeological sites are very close. The most notable for me is Luoyang, which has four WHS (large canals, Silk Road, Ryumon, Shaolin), which is also the former Imperial City. On a day trip, I managed to see Buddha statues and monks, but Luoyang felt that it was worth more than the scheduled time.

Another day trip is Pingyao, a perfect stopover between Beijing and Xi'an.

I visited this WHS in October 2013. I went to the tunnels as early as possible, but there were already many groups of tourists and locals. This made it quite difficult to take photos in the center of Pit 1, but with a bit of patience, I was able to get some good close-ups with the sun randomly shining on the warriors' faces. The bronze chariots and warriors on display here are very well preserved. Besides the Terracotta Warriors, there is a lot more to see in Xi'an (endless city walls, bell tower, drum tower, wild goose pagoda, Muslim quarter, etc.).

The highlight of my trip to Xi'an, the world famous terracotta warriors, are amazing. The only downside is that you can "see" the ruins in a relatively short time, and then it's basically travel. There are some historical sights nearby, but nothing spectacular.

Xi'an is a city of contrasts, with an incredibly dynamic and beautiful history. The city walls are massive and a World Heritage Site. Numerous properties in and around the city are now part of the Silk Road World Heritage Site. On the other hand, Xi'an is a rapidly developing city (more so than many other cities in China) and noise and pollution are noticeable. It was impossible to escape the sounds of hammers and the sight of many cranes in the streets. That said, this is a minor complaint in an overall fascinating tourist destination.

The terracotta soldiers are well known and a must-see on any visit to Xi'an, but there is much more to the city than meets the eye and ears. The Shanxi History Museum is also recommended and much better than the museum in Beijing.

Forgotten for over 2000 years until their accidental discovery in 1974, the Qin Terracotta Army is China's second most famous World Heritage Site after the Great Wall.

The tourist bus was famous for its local lotus, and was taken to Rinko City, where there is a Hata Bingroom. After the Ryumon, I was not surprised that another tourist complex welcomed me, but this tourist complex is large, there are mini corps of American fast food stores and souvenir factories, more commercialized. Ta. As I learned later, there is an electric car, and you can go directly to the inner gate of Qin Guest Magi by bypassing such a strange thing!

The Hata Horse Ma was a larg e-scale complex consisting of four modern exhibition holes that the Chinese were brilliantly transformed into a museum. The largest gymnasium building, the first pine, is a famous Terracotta Warriors, and the countless clay and horses under the protected roof were wonderful, what are the photos of this place? I've seen it, but I was surprised to see the real thing. I was shocked by the size and realism of each soldier.

While I was visiting, Chinese archeologists were discovering more areas in the first pit. It was a very good experience to see them working in such an important place. In No. 2 and No. 3 pit, there were few excavated statues, but it was as interesting. Especially in No. 2 pit, five clay statues in a very good condition were on display, and we were able to appreciate the surprisingly realistic details up close. Another building was a museum, with two beautiful bronze tanks, the first emperor's weapons, and the history of the museum.

Qin's Bing at the Waroson Warriors is another outstanding archeological site that China has registered as a World Heritage Site. I visited China for the second time because I wanted to try Chinese for a while (I met many mountain west dialects and Henan dialects) and 11 years after my last visit. It was. Ten years ago, China was a completely different country from China I saw. This country has changed dramatically and has become an economic powerhouse with infrastructure and clean toilets! I looked at the long list of World Heritage in China and hoped that I wouldn't have to wait for another 10 years to visit this attractive country.
