2019 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SAHARA Road & Trail Test
Wrangler has been on a long way since the redesign of the JL body. (Photo: Trevor Hoffman)Jeep redesigned the popular Wrangler 4x4 in 2018. Therefore, as in the case of the next year model, this 2019 model has not been changed, but the next 2020 model will be greatly upgraded, so we will reconsider among those who have never considered it before. There may be people. Are you interested? read more
Jeep produced Wrangler's JK body style from 2007 to 2017, and since then it has been one of the most successful models in the Chrysler / FCA group as a whole. By the way, the new JL version from 2018 to the present is a larger, bold, larger 7-slot grille, a new optional LED reflector headlight, and an AT V-like AT V-like front bumper (this is) , I used to be used in the 75th anniversary edition of the 2016 Wrangler I interviewed, a more shap e-up bonnet (the muscular power dome of the anniversary edition and the blac k-colored ventilation and Rubicon. Similarly, it has not been pumped up with a wonderful bonnet design), a stylish front fender with a new wraparound turn signal, a solid front body panel with a black engine vent, a new integrated side step, fresh new. Rear fender flare, new lap zone with optional LED, new side swing tailgate, and redesigned rear bumper (not as cool as the 75th anniversary model, but found in the old Sahara Definitely more attractive than metal and black plastic lumps).
There are few SUVs with of f-road performance as Wrangler. (Photo: Trevor Hoffman)
If you are not familiar with all of the jeep, you may want to stop the new JL next to the old JK and check the subtle differences, such as changing the design of the tailgate that attracted attention earlier. It is reasonable to speculate that most of the Wrangler exterior panels have been changed to respond to the lon g-ended wheelbase and lon g-unlymited wheelbase. Specifically, the 2019 Unlimited on this page is 89 mm (3. 5 inches) longer than the old JK model, the wheelbase is 61mm (2. 4 inches) longer, and the regular wheel base version is as long as it is. As a whole, the new wranglers are classical but modern, and they are more important.
More importantly, the new Wrangler's interior is considerably more refined. The doors close with a firm thud, and most of the unnecessary areas are finished in supple soft-touch composite materials. The dash top and instrument panel are finished in padded, contrast-stitched leather that matches the leather-covered steering wheel rim, leather shifter boot and armrest, and genuine leather seat upholstery. Every button, knob, and switch in the cabin is also impressive, especially the larger audio volume and dual-zone automatic climate control knobs in the center stack.
The new lighting elements are the most noticeable change. (Photo: Trevor Hofmann)
As with all these changes, the Wrangler's gauge cluster may create the biggest wow factor in the cabin. Considering how two-dimensional and flat the previous quad was, and how easy it would have been to tack on a 12. 3-inch display, fill it with graphics (not that this is simple), and call it a day, it probably would have been easier and less expensive to make. Instead, Jeep has opted for two separate motorcycle-style hooded primary dials, flanked by a large color multi-information display (MID). It looks good, offers most of the digital technology today's buyers want, and even includes the army green background graphics highlighted in the WW2 (Willys) GP. The tachometer and speedometer dials are beautiful in their white and black with orange design, and all the functionality is excellent.
The previous 6. 5-inch rectangular center touchscreen has also been changed, but this time it's a fully digital design with no buttons or knobs on either side of the display. Instead, the new 8. 0-inch square touchscreen features a cluster of dials and buttons located below it with some quick-access analog switchgear, which are primarily used for heating and ventilation controls. The large dial on the far right is for scrolling and browsing through infotainment functions, and while some may find this useful, I mostly just tapped, swiped, and pinched the touchscreen as needed (sounds more exciting than it actually is).

The new Wrangler with a ca r-based blazer in mind has achieved the best ride so far. In fact, it is more comfortable to boast than to complain while rubbing the small part and crotch on the back. To be clear, JK, which I tested in the 2005 Laktaho / Rubi Contrail press announcement, was greatly improved in riding comfort and handling compared to the TJ's predecessor model from 1997 to 2006. , This new JL body Wrangler is more comfortable to live in than any of its predecessor models. In reality, I'm old, so I won't feel uncomfortable with everyday commuting. However, the new Wrangler has completely changed everything with suspension compatibility, such as significantly improving cornering performance, improving tracking in hig h-speed range, ease of handling in the city and narrow parking lots. As a whole, this Wrangler is a much better SUV to live together.

The new roominess also includes an improved rear seat, with the outboard position now deeper and more lumbar support. The back seat still seats three, but only small people will be truly comfortable in the middle seat. And if there are only two people in the back, the center folding armrest, which incorporates two large rubber cup holders and a personal device holder, can be lowered for added comfort and convenience.
That said, Jeep missed an opportunity by not leaving an area behind the armrest for a rear seat pass-through. To make the ride as comfortable as possible for the two backseat passengers, they would have to spend money on a lockable rooftop compartment for storing long items such as skis and snowboards. This is true for most of Jeep's competitors, so while it is possible, it's not the best solution.
A full digital gauge cluster would have been cheaper for Jeep than this complicated semi-analog gauge cluster. (Photo: Trevor Hoffman)
Another complaint is the Wrangler's swinging rear doors, which remain hinged on the wrong side in North America and most global markets. 1) The roof is removable, and 2) there is a 4x4 requirement that a full-size spare tire must be mounted on the back. The lack of hinges on the passenger side makes loading into the rear cargo area from the curbside extremely tricky. My complaints about this issue probably won't be news to your regular readers or Jeep reps (who are listening), but it may be important for beginners considering a Wrangler for the first time.
The long whee l-based unlimited luggage space is 18 liters (0. 6 cubic feet) of 898 liters (31. 7 cubic feet), and the maximum capacity is 70 liters (2. 5 cubic feet) with a flat seat back (2. 5 cubic feet). It became a liter (72. 4 cubic feet). However, since the front part of the luggage compartment extended from the base of the seatback is inclined, it is probably wrong to lay it flat. Another plus is that the seatback can be easily lowered, and a new panel that hides the sheet frame that had been exposed and other mechanical parts when the seatback was laid down was added. is. These panels prevent accessories from rolling down, but this convenience has been commonplace for the owner of the crossover SUV. Nevertheless, it is a ful l-fledged upgrade for Wrangler, and in my opinion, it is well worth it, even if the luggage floor is slightly uneven.
The larger 8-inch center touch screen offers a clearer backup camera. (Photo: TREVOR HOFMANN)
One of the 2019 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara, which I tested, was equipped with FCA's 3. 6-liter pentaster V6 and combined with 8-speed automatic transmission and par t-time fou r-wheel drive. It's not as much as my old CJ5 304 cubic inch V8 (it was equipped with a very loud aftermarket header), but V6 itself plays a wonderful soundtrack, thanks to the 285 hp and 260 LB-FT torque. Providing sufficient forward energy, and the automatic transmission shift is quick and smooth.
By the way, the 6-speed manual is standard equipment, the 8-speed automatic is 1, 595 dollars to $ 40, 745 ( + fare / various expenses) of the 2019 model Wrangler Unlimited Sports S ( + fare / various expenses), this Unlimited Sahara is from $ 44, 745. The model Unlimited Rubicon can be purchased at a retail price of $ 47, 745 (the base 2-door Wrangler S starts at $ 33, 695). Alternatively, Wrangler buyers can pay $ 2, 590 and buy a 4-cylinder engine with a 2. 0-liter turbo charger with electric assist. The output of this engine is 270ps, which is 15ps lower, but the torque is 35LB-FT high 295ps. This upgrade is claimed that 8-speed automatic is standard equipment and achieves much better fuel economy than V6 (all 2018, 2019, 2020 Geidrangler price, including trims, packages, individual options. In addition, the invoice price of the maker rewate and the dealer is displayed on the right of CARCOSTCANADA, and you can now save up to $ 3, 500 or $ 4, 000 in 2019 in 2020).
Please enjoy the comfort and convenience of a completely new level of Wrangler. (Photo: Trevor Hoffman)
Looking at the numerical values, the combination of the base Wrangler Henrimited V6 and 6-speed manuals is 13. 8ℓ/100 km in urban areas, 10. 1ℓ/100 km on highway, and 12. 2ℓ/100 km in complexes, but the same engine and 8-speed. The combination of automatic is 12. 9ℓ/100km, expressway 10. 2ℓ/100km, and complex 11. 7ℓ/100km. Regarding the 4-cylinder turbo, the number of 10. 9 km in the city, 10. 0 km on the highway, and 10. 5 km in combination is the top of the top, but the 2020 model Wandler is planned to be equipped with FCA ultr a-high efficiency 3. 0 liter V6 turbo diesel. And the output will be 260ps and the maximum torque will not be short, so the period to hold this title may be short. It's hard to imagine that many of the enthusiastic 4x4 fans of the Wranglers are expanding their expectations of this engine. The diesel was the best engine for of f-road for a long time, but this engine is installed only on a long whee l-based Unlimited body, and a more of f-road regular whee l-based Wrangler continues to be equipped with gasoline engines. You need to be careful.
With of f-road in mind, more sophisticated current Wranglers have few direct rivals yet. In fact, apart from pickup tracks, Wrangler is the only ful l-fledged of f-loader that can be used in the mainstream volume brand compact class, and will continue until the new Ford Bronco appears. The combination of the General compact pickup base Chevrolet Braser and GMC Jimny disappeared in 2005, and the Toyota Land Cruiser Prad o-Base FJ Cruiser withdrew from the market in 2014. Following that, very hig h-performance Nissan extensioners withdrew in 2015, and the popular Wranglers were left behind in their own segments.
The size and comfort of the rear seats have been dramatically improved. (Photo: Trevor Hoffman)
As a matter of course, I tested Wrangler Henrimited Sahara at my favorite 4x4 spots. In fact, thick mud and large puddles could be easily brushed out with this competent utility. After leaving the paved road, I put a secondary rogie leaver in the 4H par t-time position and challenged the sem i-rough.When I deeply dive into a large puddle or dig a rut like the bottom of the abyss, I stopped and got 4L (Forlow). Considering that it is close to my home, it is perfect as a test course, but I have ran a Rubicon Trail and other difficult courses in the old JK, so I will never challenge myself, and it is it. I enjoyed both of the surprisingly agile 4x4.
The luggage compartment space has been expanded and the folding of the rear seat back has become easier, but the luggage floor is not flat (photo: TREVOR HOFMANN).
This SUV also has a smart business sense if all the improvements mentioned above are not enough to sit in the new Wrangler driver's seat. According to ALG, Wranglers are more valuable than any model in Canada, and the 4-door Unlimited version drops only 30 % after three years and 31. 5 % of the tw o-door model. In addition, Wrangler won the 2019 Best Retail Value Award in the Canadian Blackbook Compact SUV category for the ninth consecutive year, achieving 91 % of the new return value record in 2019 (a small jeep ca r-based). Renegade also won the first place in the su b-compact crossover category).
This means that for those who are still in doubt, Jeep's Wranglers no longer need to justify. In other words, you get what you want, and at the same time make the wise choice. Don't you want all decisions to be so easy?

2019 Ford Explorer Limited 4x4 Road Test Review
The current model Ford Explorer is still a cool crossover SUV, despite its oldness. (Photo: karen tuggay)
If you are a Ford's Explorer, especially the current model fans that can be replaced by the new model in 2020, you should do something. The Range Rove r-style fift h-generation model, which appeared as a 2011 model in 2010, is an effective option to replace more modern machines, not the most hip 7-seater.
Yes, this 2019 Explorer is far beyond that deadline. In fact, the Ford D4 platform dates back to the 2004 Five Hundred/Taurus and the 2007 Crossover SUV FREESTYLE/Taurus X, and the D4 architecture was pulled out from the 1999 Volvo S80, which appeared the previous year. is. Other D 4-based models include some of the U S-only Mercury, Lincoln's MKS and MKT, and Ford's unique flex.
Although the 2019 Explorer is hard to say in the spring chickens, it looks particularly good and the inside is still up to date. Ford has changed styling for the past decade, and recent models use more than previous versions, eliminating the imitation character of a strong Range Rover. I really like the appearance of my tester Limited Trim. The chrome exterior design boasts a large 2 0-inch alloy wheel and many other styling upgrades, leaving a clean appearance, but no overdoing.
Explorer is a large SUV because seven adults can ride and have a luggage compartment. (Photo: karen tuggay)
With a number of styling updates, powertrain improvements, and the update of the infotainment system, the Explorer is quite fresh and almost modern, and why every time you spend every week with Explorer. I am reminded of whether it is greatly popular. The Canadians always push the Ford of this thre e-row seat to 3rd or 4th in the mi d-size SUV category, and the rivals of the thre e-row seats, but it looks fine and has sufficient performance. Despite providing the type of function that the people who buy this segment are expected, the season is beginning to enter for the composite material of rubbe r-pulling soft touch and the internal hard plastic.
The 2019 model Explorer that I recently drove seemed to be the same as the 2018 model refreshed 2018, but it was a subtle styling upgrade of a healthier Mid cycle model change in 2016. 。 Since then, Ford has not only upgraded some functions, but has redone the alloy wheels, which is the same SUV under the sheet metal.

This is because this fou r-cylinder engine combines excellent performance and excellent economics, and the latter evaluation is that the middle grade V6 is 14. 5 urban areas, 10. 6 highways, and a complex, while the city area is 13. 1L. Like a true off-road capable SUV, the Explorer is taller and offers a more truck-like ride than many midsize crossover SUVs, but as mentioned above, it is based on a traditional unibody platform. This means that the body structure remains tight and stiff, a much appreciated and noticeable feature when dealing with bumps, potholes, and other nuisances. This has a lot to do with the amount of fine-tuning done by Ford's engineering team over the past decade. Both cars use independent suspension with MacPherson struts up front and multi-links in the rear, with 32mm stabilizer bars up front and 22mm stabilizer bars in the rear.
The Explorer is not as refined as some newer models, but it is impressive and well equipped for its age. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
The Explorer Limited I test drove had a fair amount of mass, even with the lightest 2. 3-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, weighing 2, 066 kg, but the aforementioned horsepower and torque figures provided strong acceleration from the line to the highway and beyond, and the six-speed automatic gearbox (the only transmission) was well matched to the engine. The more improved transmission should be more reliable than competing eight-, nine-, and 10-speed autoboxes, the latter number corresponding to the number of forward gears offered in the new 2020 Explorer. I found the 2019 Explorer's six-speed automatic to swap cogs with consistent smoothness and plenty of positive action when pushed hard, the latter reinforced by a thumb rocker switch on the shift knob when you want to engage manual mode, so if it proves to be a more reliable transmission in the long run, I'll have zero issues with four fewer gears.
Speed is important, but in the world of family-carrying SUVs, comfort is king. Fortunately, the Explorer is not only roomy, but also comfortable. It seats seven as standard, or six if you add second-row captain's chairs. In my tester's standard configuration, the entire second row can accommodate three-abreast seating comfortably, and the outboard positions are equipped with two-way heat to keep the rear delly warm during cold winter months. It can be turned on and off with two buttons on the back of the front center console. The buttons are located next to the manual rear climate control panel, which also has dual USB charging ports and a three-plug 110-volt household AC charger.
The Explorer's instrument cluster is equipped with two large multi-info displays. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
Access to the third row is made easier by flipping each side of the 60/40 split second row forward and out of the way, providing plenty of access space. My 6' 11" (180 cm) mid-sized frame fit in nicely, with more than enough room in every direction.
The 50/50 split-folding rear row seats can be folded down into a deep luggage well when not in use, using power controls in the cargo wall. Stowage is comparable to that of a luxury minivan, but you have to go around to the side door to fold the second row flat. The Explorer's cargo capacity expands to 595 liters (21. 0 cubic feet) behind the third row, 1, 240 liters (43. 9 cubic feet) behind the second row, and a total of 2, 313 liters (81. 7 cubic feet) behind the first row. That's impressive cargo capacity compared to three-row rivals.
Back in the driver's seat, the Explorer Limited's main chair is 10-way, which should be comfortable for most sizes of people. The power-adjustable steering column's wide reach made it easy to find the driving position that optimized both comfort and control, and all of the buttons, knobs and dials on the instrument panel were within easy reach. The large Sync 3 infotainment touchscreen is packed with features. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
The center touchscreen features Ford's excellent Sync 3 infotainment interface. Admittedly, it's not as modern as some of the more recently updated models in this class, including the new Explorer, but the light blue, black and white (and sometimes wine) graphics look fresh and good, and even if the system doesn't offer the highest resolution currently available, it remains relatively responsive to inputs. Its matte display minimizes fingerprints and is bright and easy to read, better than some competing displays that wash out in sunlight. For example, the center display in the 2019 Toyota Highlander was almost impossible to see because of the glare (models that haven't yet been upgraded with Toyota's latest and much improved Entune infotainment system), and it was even worse with polarized sunglasses. This isn't an issue in the Explorer.
All of the Explorer's switches are on par with other models in the segment, and some are even better. For example, the rotary audio knob is edged with knurled metal, which adds a premium feel and appearance. The cabin's woodgrain inlays are also very detailed and authentic, running across the instrument panel and each door. On the other hand, I really like how Ford has surrounded the wood with satin-finished aluminum, and how the two metal trim sections meet where the dash ends and the door panels begin. The doors were obviously not hung properly during assembly (see photos 28 and 29 in the gallery). But the quality of these trim parts and the overall niceness of the Explorer’s interior design should earn Ford bonus points. (If the Explorer you’re buying suffers from the same problem, I think you can ask your local dealer to re-hang the doors.)
The Sony audio in the Limited trim sounds very good. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
Notable wood and metal inlays are standard, and the base XLT comes with LED signature lighting to enhance the auto LED low-beam headlights, along with LED fog lamps, LED tail lamps, 245/60 all-season 18-inch alloys, silver roof rails, and other equipment not yet mentioned, including a capless fuel filler, remote start, Proximity Access with push-button start/stop, Ford's SecuriCode keypad mounted on the B-pillar, MyKey, forward/reverse parking sonar, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, a leather-wrapped shift knob, an eight-way power-adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, an auto-dimming center mirror, a Sync 3 infotainment touchscreen with backup camera, a seven-speaker AM/FM/MP3 audio system with satellite radio, FordPass Connect with Wi-Fi hotspot, a Smart Charge USB and four 12V power points (two in the first row). Other features include a media hub with satellite channels (one in the front row, one in the second row and one in the cargo area), two-zone automatic HVAC with filters, and blind-spot monitors with rear cross-traffic alert. The Explorer's stiff bodyshell is standard, plus it's got enough safety features to earn a five-star NHTSA crash rating. Ford also offers a new (from last year) $1, 000 Safe & Smart package that adds rain-sensing wipers, automatic high beams, dynamic cruise control, forward collision warning with brake support and lane-keeping assist.

This safe and smart package was added to my limit tester, and other than that, a unique 2 0-i n-in aluminum wearing a more standard chrome exterior trim, 255/50 tires, and LED turns. Buil t-in power folding outside mirror, ambient interior light, steering heater, power adjustable tilt & telescopic steering column, universal garage door opener, 3-way cooling & memory (mirror and steering column) Memory of settings) With Perforested Leather Upholm equipped with a passenger seat 1 0-way power adjustable seat, 18 0-degree split view front parking camera, SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, a soun d-flowing navigation system, Hands Free Foot, Hands Free Foot Active power lift gate, excellent sound 1 2-speaker Sony audio system, 110 bolt AC power outlet, 2nd row with heater, 3rd row of power folding mentioned earlier, and Ford with the above $ 1, 750 2 panel powered panoramic Equipped with a sunroof, my Explorer tester was less than $ 50, 000, including description.
For example, a 1, 50 0-dollar XLT dessert coopper package with a unique 2 0-inch aluminum wheel, chrome side mirror, black/ capper leather epidermis added to the base XLT trim), and in addition, the "Explorer" block letter, magnetic metalic painting (black) of the hood. Exclusive 2 0-inch aluminum wheels, magnetic metallic paint executive accents, black roof rails, "EXPLORER" Enhanced Front Floor Mat, Fire Orange Contrast Stick, Black Leather Seat with Perforeted Miko Insert, Fox There is also a $ 1, 600 XLT Sports Apia Remark Package equipped with a fire scrim, a fire orange contrast stitch, etc.
The front seat is spacious and comfortable. (Photo: karen tuggay)
This package is equipped with a safe and smart package, an active motion massage multiconder front seat, active park assist, and inflatable rear outboard safety belt.
As mentioned above, the Sport trim line mentioned above is equipped with a more powerful turbo V6, as well as a mirror housing and outer a handle, and a glossy black exterior trim with a cool impression on most of the parts with chrom e-plated. It is adopted and has a special blackout process for headlights and tail lamps, the cabin is a Red stitc h-containing Perforested leather seat, an improved Sony audio system equipped with Clear Phase and Live Acoustics, Limited Trim. In addition to all functions, Safe and Smart Package is equipped.
Finally, the superior platinum trim is equipped with all the sports model black exterior trims and special interior details. Instead, the exterior has a satin chrome, a chrom e-plated tail pipe is a sporty four set, making it the most like Range Rover from the viewpoint of the exterior design. Nevertheless, Power Adjustable Pedal, standard twin panel moon roof, active park assist, dedicated ash Swar Wood Inlay, Microper Forth and Rich Quilting Side Volstar It is a very attractive equipment as a family Harler, such as Nirvana Leather Uphol Star.
Both the second row and the third row seats are comfortable and wide (photo: karen tuggay)
Platinum trims include mult i-contour seats with massage functions of the abov e-mentioned 301A package, upgraded meter cluster, instrumental panel and doors covered with leather, additional leather that covers the armrest of the door and center console, a unique head. Includes liner and active noise reduction.
If it's a platinum, it's certainly a more fun week than a Limited test ride, but if I buy it, I'm hesitant to be a little hesitant. In any case, the Explorer looks good, drives, is a turbo 4, has good fuel economy, is packed with luxurious goods, is super tolerant for passengers and luggage, and has a beautiful finish (off the trimpiece. Not included).
Nevertheless, the fift h-generation Explorer, which will soon end production, is still an excellent thre e-row crossover SUV that anyone who is sensitive to price should consider. Certainly, it looks a bit older than the new 2020 model model, but it is a useless that has been trial and error, and it will provide services that do not take many years.

2019 Porsche Panamera 4S Road Test
The new 2nd generation Panamera is definitely more attractive than the first generation. (Photo: karen tuggay)
Porsche's Panamera is a unique sports sedan. Certainly, the premium sector has a lot of 4-door coupe, but Panamera has a longer, wider, low, and symbolic 911 Carrera appearance.
The fou r-door coupe category is still relatively new, but it has expanded while other segments are shrinking. Mercede s-Benz produced this segment 15 years ago with the CLS class, but five years ago, Panamera was the first competing car in 2009. Audi's A7 and Aston Martin's Rapido launched this segment shortly before BMW announced the 6 Series Gran Coupe in 2012. At the exquisite timing that the latter Bavarian model was canceled and the new 8 Series Gran Coupe appeared in 2020, Mercedes will soon be a hig h-priced (and clear name) new GT 4-door coupe for the three major threats of 4-door coupe. Is provided.
Panamera is the most sporty of the fou r-door coupe currently on sale, and the proportions before and after are beautiful. (Photo: karen tuggay)
Mercede s-Benz, which is even more interesting, has a limited and lowe r-level 4-door coupe at the top and lower levels of the Aston Martin Rapid o-2015 to 2016 Lagonda Taraf, which was a limited production (120 units). With the success of small entries such as the CLA class, BMW's 4 series Gran coupe, and Audi's A5 sports back, almost the same as Volkswagen Alteon (formerly CC) and Kia's stinger. Returning to the high price range, Lamborghini has been announcing the possibility of a commercial model in line with the 2008 beautiful esthetic concept for more than 10 years (I think it has become a powerful seller). These two models can actually be a wise business case because they are under the umbrella of Volkswagen Group and have a family connection with Panamera. Bentley has already adopted an MSB architecture developed by the same VW AG as the Panamera for the new Continental GT Coupe and Convertible, and the Flying Spa Sedan.
Except for glossy black trims and 2 1-inch alloys, all are standard equipment of Panamera 4S. (Photo: karen tuggay)
Bentley Bentiga and Lamborghini Urs share the undercarriage with Porsche Cayenne and the new Cayenne Coupe, and it goes without saying that Audi Q7, Q8, new Volkswagen Touleg (no longer available here). However, it may be exciting for these exotic players to soak their feet in the water of a 4-door coupe, but for buyers who spend more than $ 300, 000 in this class and seek highly reliable options, are not full of Panamera. There is no option.

The Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid was a new model in 2018, and thanks to Porsche, I was able to drive last year with many other new and updated models. The version I tested was characterized by a normal tilt tranquid and an unpolished wheelbase that was not extended, thanks to 680 pure horsepower. He also tested a new sports tourism wagon last year, but the drive train in the car was the same as the Panamera 4S introduced in this review, output 440 horsepower from 2. 9 liter twin turbo V6.When all Panamera is in accordance with the speed of 2019, the model introduced in this review has not been changed so far, except that the price setting has been slightly raised throughout the line, and the car on this page has been added. It is the 2017 model where the second generation Panamera appeared. The Panamera lineup was not improved, but a GTS model equipped with a 453 horsepower 4. 0-liter V8 twin turbo was added, and it was located between this 4S and Panamera turbo in both performance and price. 。 By the way, the cars I review here are $ 119, 600, the new GTS is $ 147, 400 and the turbo is $ 174, 200.
When you sit in the driver's seat, it feels like a spacious sports car (photo: karen tuggay)
Unfortunately, there was no GTS at the time of the test, but I thought I could stint once with 4s. After all, 110 horsepower is higher than the 330 hp base Panamera, and all four wheels are enhancing the grip. The groan exhaust notes are wonderful in sports mode, and you can play crackling when you release the throttle, but if you return the drive mode selector to the default settings, you can rest assured that the ferocious hyd side will be quiet.
The biggest feature of Panamera is that luxurious luxury and extraordinary performance are compatible with ideal balance. There is no other fou r-door, which has an agility like a sports car and an interior finish that is particular about the details. The low bodywork against today's tall SUV trends. Porsche offers Macan and Cayenne for those who seek gorfast performance on a better view.

Panamera is impressive and smooth, while skillfully manipulating a meandering corner that has never experienced this size. Panamera responds to the worst steps and holes, even in alleys in the city center, even if you survive a railroad crossing or an aging bridge expansion joint, or run on a remote road where broken asphalt floods. Providing sufficient suspension travel and will not be unstable. Of course, the compliance and hardness depends on the selected trim and wheel option, but I rode all grades except the new GTS, but all grades are comparable to circuit driving, and usually out of the weekend, but usually out. It was both a satisfying comfort for commuting and errands.
The 2 1-inch Aloy Wheel with a satin platinum finish, wearing Pirelli Chinturato P7 performance tires with 315/30 rear 315/35, is the largest size that can be selected by my test car options, and is a base. It's different from being relaxed with the 4S model 1 9-inch wheel.
The right side of the meter cluster can also be used for route guidance. (Photo: karen tuggay)
In the case of the base Panamera, 5. 7 seconds from zero start to 100 km/h, 5. 5 seconds when the sports chrono package is installed, while 4S is 4. 4 seconds for standard specifications, sports chrono package is installed. Is 4. 2 seconds. In addition, the 4S runs through 160km/h in just 10. 3 seconds, reducing the time from zero bees to 160 km/h by 3. 3 seconds. The final speed ahead is 289km/h, which is 25km/h faster than the most basic Panamera.
This hig h-speed action looks amazingly fun, but there are many faster Panamera. For example, the new GTS requires only 4. 1 seconds from the stop state to 100 km/h, the turbo is only 3. 8 seconds, and the sensational turbo S e-hybrid requires only 3. 4 seconds until it exceeds 100 km/h. The maximum speed is also improved, and the turbo S e-hybrid has a 310km/h high output, but even this Panamera 4S has a better performance compared to most sports sedans.

The newly developed 8-speed tw e-in clutch PDK transmission achieves hig h-speed and smooth shift changes due to paddle operation, and al l-wheeled torque vectoring type driving is the wonderful followability of the chassis on the paved road regardless of the weather or road surface. Maintain it.
As mentioned earlier, the glossy black exterior trim is not standard equipment, but the black accent on my test ride was still attractive with white paint. Normally, panamera is a satin silver or bright metal detail, but it can also paint mirror caps, door handles, badges, etc. on gloss black.
Panamera's interior is the industry's best composite, leather, available hardwood, aluminum and carbon fiber inlays, and so on the bottom of the image drawn on a wonderful, hig h-definition, contrasting display and graphical image. Yes, Panamera has the best digital display. The classic Porsche style 5-dial instrument cluster, the center ring, is the only analog component among the wonderful and colorful screens, and the left monitor displays drivin g-related information. But the right monitor incorporates a comprehensive mult i-information display, including the mapping of the route guidance system.
In addition, a map can be displayed on the upper part of the center stack with a long infotainment display, which looks almost thre e-dimensional. Most of the controlled center console is a touch sensor type, which operates simply by pressing lightly and clicking. The texture of all buttons, knobs, and switches is very high, and the interior of Panamera is comparable to any other model. The surface treatment around the console is glossy black, but it is still easy to clean because it is a glas s-like smartphone material. The good thing is that you don't have to choose piano black, and you can choose one from many options that can show the cabin neatly even if it's dirty.
Fortunately, such a filthy dirt was not adhered to the leather sports steering wheels, which my hands have touched most of the time. Instead, I was greeted with the best type of steering wheel in this industry. The narrow spokes are elegant, the center is hollowed out, lighter and more performanc e-oriented. The integrated buttons and the laurel processed metal dial that scrolls are well made, especially with a tight fit and good dumping. As usual, the button with a heat function is hidden at the bottom of the bottom spoke, and it is certain that it is an intelligent design, but it feels too easy to turn on / off when rotating the wheel. To be clear, the secon d-generation Panamera is very good in all aspects and is almost impossible to find dissatisfaction. Of course, the rear space is not as large as the 7 series or S class, but it is hard to say that Panamera's purpose is to provide a limousine level. In fact, no matter which model I test drive, I have never felt uncomfortable in the back seat. 2019 Kia Forte EX Limited Road Test Review
Kia was familiar with the style, which was very clear in the new Forte. (Photo: karen tuggay)
The line is not an abstract of more visually complex Honda Civic or the new 2020 Toyota Corolla, but clean and modern. I don't hate the latter two, but in general, I think Forte is easier to see, and if you are lined up next to the other two without the badge, you will be chosen more. think. < SPAN> Still, full rear console with large hig h-resolution touch screen, 3-wah heater seat switch, twin rear auto air conditioner, 4-water theater HVAC system from front to rear, electric side & rear window sun shade, large 2 panels Panamic Moon Roof, an ideal panamer a-shaped sports bucket seat, is as comfortable and supportive as the front seat.
Do you have luggage? Panamera can carry a reasonable amount of daily necessities. (Photo: karen tuggay)
To be clear, the secon d-generation Panamera is very good in all aspects and is almost impossible to find dissatisfaction. Of course, the rear space is not as large as the 7 series or S class, but it is hard to say that Panamera's purpose is to provide a limousine level. Of course, the Civic and Corolla have been a great success for a long time, when the current design is known. Because they were always very good cars. On the other hand, the current shape is clearly accepted by the Canadian masses, and otherwise, it is the first and second place, sold within the top 10 Canada, including trucks, crossovers, and vans. I wouldn't have sitting. I just happen to like Forte's visual design than these two segment leaders.
Forte's styling strength is a longer, lean, lower, and swepto r-back profile. Forte has a number of stylish improvements from the front to the rear, but the sporty parts adopted in my highest grade Forte EX Limited do not impair the overall looks of Forte. I felt that it was improving.

A chrome edge of Kia is applied, glossy black notched oval grills are placed in the center, and an air induction vent with glossy black details is placed at the bottom of the front mask. The other end is an offset of the conventional tail light, and the taillight has an interesting pattern LED. Immediately above the rear deck secret, there is a buil t-in spoiler that improves aerodynamic characteristics. The rear bumper has a diffuse r-like shape, but it does not have the effect of improving the air flow. However, the inky black paint looks sporty enough and matches the gross black triangle bezel in each corner of each corner, which has a rear foam lamp and backup lamp. Finally, my Forte tester wore a 1 7-inch double 5-spoke shaved alloy wheel with a black pocket. < SPAN> Of course, the Civic and Corolla have been a great success for a long time when the current design is known. The interior of the new Forte is even more impressive, overwhelming the current models and many compact rivals. Like the exterior design, the cabin gives a more conservative impression than several models that provide a funky atmosphere, not very serious in this class. In addition, many of the upper part of the dash and the instrument panel are finished with luxurious soft touch composits and are very sophisticated. This supple material is also used for the front door upper, door inserts, and armrests, and the latter is also used in the rear passenger compartment. This is a really hig h-quality environment, but I don't even say that Forte is better than competitors' quality, fit and finish. At present, most of the interiors of Forte's challenger are at a sufficient level.
Yes, this is not a type mistake. Forte is equipped with a steering wheel with a leathe r-rolled heater as standard. Toyota's Kamuri does not have such a luxury option, even if it is fully equipped. If you set the option of Camry, it will add about $ 24, 000 to the Forte's $ 17, 195 bass MT suggested retail price or $ 13, 000 to the 28, 065 Forte EX Limited, but there is still no steering wheel heater. Neither the front seat cools nor the rear seat heater are provided (for the 2019 Kia Forte prices, please be sure to see here, including trim levels, packages and options, and in CARCOSTCANADA. Don't forget that you can save a lot by examining the available rebates and dealer billing prices, and can be used in CARCOSTCANADA here. After the last few Canadian winters, I'd rather have a heated steering wheel than a cold leather rim first thing in the morning (if they could find a way to heat the shift knob too). I love cooling my ass in the middle of summer, so if you're like me, consider a Forte with these comfort features (also note that the 2020 Corolla sedan offers a heated steering wheel as part of an upgrade package, but no cooled front seats or heated rear cushions).
The LED taillight graphics are very nice (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
Going back to the upgrades for the 2019 Forte, Kia has revamped the automatic shifter to look great with a leather wrap and satin silver knob design. In my Forte, the steering wheel spokes also got this stylish silver treatment, as did the entire instrument panel and corner vent bezels, the trim on the inside door handles and power window/side mirror switchgear, and finally the thumb release button for the manual handbrake.
What? A complete ground-up redesign without an electronic parking brake as standard seems dated in this day and age, but honestly, it didn't bother me one bit during my two-week long-term test. In fact, I only noticed it on the final day while taking notes. The reason Kia left this technological anachronism in the new design is because of the six-speed manual transmission that comes standard with the car. I would have preferred that gearbox to be in my top-line trim, or at least in a sport-specific model like the one Kia's sister company Hyundai offers in the 200-horsepower Elantra Sport, a Civic Si rival with an improved suspension and styling.
Bulletin (although it was not exactly the news because it was introduced in November last year): Kia Motor announces the new Forte GT, which can be called Black Oberl Drug Elland Trug Sports as a 2020 model. If it is a great look of 1 8-inch rim and a sporty design dialogue, it should be great if it is the same as Ellanta Sports, which was acclaimed in last year's road test review. In addition to 201 horsepower 1. 6-liter turbo 4 and short throwing 6-speed manual gear box (or optional paddle shift type 7-speed dual clutch automatic), the rear is equipped with a full independent suspension of sports tune with mult i-link setup. 。 Soon, along with the new 5-door Forte5 GT, will have the same kind of fighter as the Civic SI sedan that has always been needed.

That is, this 2019 Forte comes with only a 2. 0-liter 4-cylinder that makes one engine, 147 horsepower and 132 LB-FT torque. In this category, it is quite competitive, but other manufacturers are more varied, and as thus (until the 2020 model debuts), it will attract more performance and / or green buyers. Interestingly, the current model's 2. 0-liter four-cylinder engine (previously named the "2. 0 GDI") is no longer available in a more advanced direct-injected version, even though it now has a more appealing 164 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. I initially assumed that this more powerful engine would come later, perhaps when the facelifted Forte5 arrived. But a quick look at the "Upcoming Vehicles" section of a Canadian car dealership site reveals that the new five-door hatch will go on sale this fall as a 2020 model, with no sign of the sportier GDI engine. Instead, the sedan's "2. 0L MPI" engine will be available in base trim, with the same 1. 6-liter turbo four that was in the second-generation 2018 model (which is still on sale, by the way) available as an option. This revised LCD/TFT primary instrument cluster is standard on the second-tier EX trim (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
However, Kia's reason for simplifying the Forte's engine lineup is that calendar year 2018 sales were only 14, 399 units (including the Forte 5), down about 12. 1% from the previous year. If it can attract more buyers, like the 48, 796 Corolla customers throughout 2018 and the 69, 005 Canadians who chose the Civic during the same 12 months, Kia may return to offering two-door sports coupes as it once did.
It's about time to keep an eye on Hyundai's Elantra sales numbers (soon to be overhauled for 2020). Sales through 2018 were 41, 784, far more than the Forte, but this was a 9. 4% decrease from 2017.
Another reason Kia chose the leading engine for 2019 is likely to be price-related, both at the initial sale and at the pump thereafter. Canadians are super price-sensitive in this small car category, and if a more powerful engine would push the Forte up the price range, it would hurt sales. Additionally, if the 2. 0GDI was the only option for this car, its fuel economy would fall short of the best in its class, which would hinder acceptance of the entire Forte line.
The new 8-inch infotainment touchscreen is great. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
Instead, the 2. 0 MPI engine is pretty efficient, looking back at 2018 Transport Canada fuel economy figures of 8. 0L/100km city, 6. 1L/100km highway, and 7. 1L/100km combined, which are on par with the more powerful GDI's ratings of 9. 4L/100km, 6. 8L/100km, and 8. 3L/100km, respectively. That would have been a big gap to overcome.
It's also worth noting that Kia has made some big strides with the 2. 0 MPI engine in the new 2019 model, with Transport Canada's new ratings of 8. 6 L/100km city, 6. 4 L/100km highway, and 7. 6 L/100km combined for the base trim with the six-speed manual, up from 9. 4, 6. 8, and 8. 3 respectively the year before. Additionally, the Forte's all-new Hyundai/Kia-engineered continuously variable transmission (CVT) offers better fuel economy than last year's six-speed automatic, averaging 7. 7L/100km city/5. 9L/100km highway/6. 9L/100km combined for the new model, compared with 8. 0L/100km city/6. 1L/100km highway/7. 1L/100km combined for the old model.
The CVT, called the Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), adds $2, 500 to the Forte's base LX trim and is standard on all other models. That's high praise for any CVT, and plenty for a compact car where comfort is a top priority.
Two-zone automatic HVAC is standard on the EX Premium trim (Photo: Karen Tuggay)The Forte's engine and transmission perform linearly, with minimal unpleasant noise, vibration and harshness. Kia offers a number of Drive Mode Select settings, including Normal, Eco, Sport and Smart. The latter is what I left on Drive Mode Select most of the time, thanks to its ability to automatically adjust between each mode to optimize fuel economy and performance.
The Forte's smooth powertrain is accompanied by a comfortable ride, and its cornering performance is quite responsive considering that it has a fairly inexpensive torsion beam rear suspension setup. By comparison, the Civic and the new 2020 Corolla use independent multi-link rear suspension systems that give them an advantage when attacking broken pavement, especially mid-corner, harder, but the Forte is nimble enough for most high-speed handling. The upcoming GT should be even better.
In addition, when upgraded to CVT, almost standard equipment, such as forward collision avoidance support (FCA), lane maintenance support (LKA), driver attentive alert (DAA), there are also almost standard equipment.
Cooling sheet? Yar Baby, I can't get it in Corolla. (Photo: karen tuggay)
The manual and CVT LX model include aut o-on / off projector headlights, splash guards, body same color mirror housing and door handle, heated outside mirror, heated leather tension steering wheel rim, heated. Front seat, air conditioner, really impressive new tablet type 8. 0 inch touch screen display (with tap, pinch, swipe gesture control function), Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Smartphone Connection function, convenient active guidelines Backup camera, AM/FM/MP3 radio, Bluetooth hand s-free audio, USB input, cruise control, hill assist control (HAC), 60/40 split rear sheet back, 434 liters (15. 3 cubic feet) The trunk can be supported to long luggage such as skiing boards.
Instead of a 1 5-inch steel wheel and a cover of the base model, a 1 6-inch mechanical finish rim with a sharp impression is installed.
Kia's "SOFINO" leather seat is close to the real thing and the seat is comfortable. (Photo: karen tuggay)
And the $25, 065 EX Premium trim adds the aforementioned LED headlamps, as well as high beam assist (HBA), proximity-sensing keyless entry, push-button start/stop, dynamic cruise control, an eight-way powered driver's seat, "SOFINO" leather seats, two-zone auto HVAC, XM/SIRIUS satellite radio, UVO Intelligence connected car services, advanced forward collision-avoidance assist (FCA), a proximity-sensing trunk lid that opens automatically if the key fob holder stands behind the car for three seconds, and more.
Finally, the $28, 065 EX Limited I test drove came standard with all of the above, plus the aforementioned ventilated front seats and heated rear seats, an enhanced multimedia infotainment interface with very accurate and easy-to-use navigation, and finally, the impressive Harman/Kardon premium audio upgrade.
The driver's seat was very comfortable for this class, and the two-way powered lumbar support thankfully fit the small of my back perfectly. Even better, the Forte's standard tilt-and-telescopic steering column was comfortable and easy to control once adjusted to suit my 185-cm-long legs. That's not always the case in any class of car, especially in Toyota models. In that car, the telescopic steering column didn't have enough reach, so the pedals were too close and the steering wheel was uncomfortably far away. Fortunately, that wasn't an issue in the Forte sedan.
After setting the driver's seat to suit my size, I sat directly back to test the space in the back seat. In addition to leg room, I found about 5 inches in front of my knees, 3. 5 inches above my head, 5 inches on the outside of my shoulders, and 4 inches next to my hips. In other words, the Forte offers rear passengers a lot of space and plenty of comfort.
The rear center armrest was just in my arm and had a normal dual cup holder. The magazine pocket with the web behind the passenger seat looked more beautiful than the bare seat back in front of my feet. Nevertheless, even if there was no mesh magazine pocket behind the driver's seat, the seat warmer mentioned earlier was warm and comfortable, so I could hardly complain. In addition, I was grateful for the smaller reactor window that was slightly brighter than some cars in this class and could ensure the outer view.
Forte has a wide trunk space and can be expanded with a 60/4 0-divided rear seatback. (Photo: karen tuggay)
Isn't it a good plus thinking to leave a review of the 2019 Kia Forte? The lack of optional power and the ability of the rear suspension are low, so it is not the best in class, but it is the best of the fou r-door of the forte that has been created so far. However, these drawbacks are useful for keeping the price setting low, and Kia cars can provide a lot of comfor t-oriented functions. Forte is also a shortage of styling, space, comfort and safety. And remember that Forte buyers seeking more powerful performance can choose the old Forte 5 and soon be able to choose GT and redesigned 5 as an option.
Soon the kina car is renewed two body styles and covers both truly sporty variations.

2019 Jaguar XF S Road Test Review
It is difficult to refute the styling of the 2019 Jaguar XF S. (Photo: karen tuggay)
To guess, even if you live in a more popular area in Canada, you will rarely see XE or XJ sedans, let alone Jaguar XF. The Kova Reel fou r-door car, which was once often seen in flocks of luxury cars, is now becoming a truly unusual existence.
Needless to say, the B type, C type, and E-type sports cars inspired today's sensational F type, but thanks to the surprisingly beautiful MK II and the very elegant XJ series I, II, III. The Jaguar brand has become a legendary being.
When the current XJ was fully remodeled in 2009, the design of its original and beautiful proportions became a completely new lineup of Jaguar's sedan and crossover, but the latter SUV lineup was quite strong. It is hard to say that he has released an encore hit following the full base home run.
The 2nd generation mi d-size E-segment XF reviewed this time appears as a 2016 model in 2015, and its modeling is beautiful. Like XJ and almost all jaguar cars, it is formed with aluminum panels and composite materials, but only XF can claim the highest air resistance coefficient in brand history.
Gorgeous from anywhere. (Photo: karen tuggay)
The XF is born from a beautiful, lightweight and symbolic brand, but that doesn't mean that it is popular. It seems that you need to be a curious collector to own a car like an XF, but the monopoly car has a privilege. You don't see them running in a nearby lane every day or every other week. Those who please the crowd will not like this, but those who chose to be unique to stand out from the crowd will feel the rarity of XF as a bonus. After all, XF is rare, but it has hardly changed in terms of delighting drivers and crew, and it has high levels of old school charm, powerful performance, and highly advanced technical equipment. 。
Jaguar actually improved XF technology for this 2019 model, and all XF trims have incorporated the renewed 10. 0-inch Incontrol Touch Pro Infotainment touch screen, completely new and complete. It provides a larger labeling area to appreciate the simple graphic package (the classical red phone box in front of the idyllic background and other scenes is gone). More simpler visibility, larger details of navigation mapping, and many other enhancements. If a more minimal, more sophisticated digital interface doesn't fit your standards, the integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones provides a new appearance when installed on your device, and has more unique features. Add. I've been switching to Android in the last few years (I'm tired of a sloppy iPhone battery), so I decided to use a genuine Jaguar genuine system that looks much more attractive. By the way, functions such as navigation and voice recognition can be used for the second rank prestige trim of the XF.
Sharp lines, stunning curves, LED headlights, 2 0-inch aluminum, and XF S have everything. (Photo: karen tuggay)
All of the Explorer's switches are on par with other models in the segment, and some are even better. For example, the rotary audio knob is edged with knurled metal, which adds a premium feel and appearance. The cabin's woodgrain inlays are also very detailed and authentic, running across the instrument panel and each door.
The diversity of the available XF engines is actually very surprising and unusual, but all of these engines are one trial and error 8-speed automatic gear box. Focus the energy. This quick and smooth transmission boasts an innovative rotating gear selector, and after starting, automatically power up from the flash arrangement at the lower console between the front seats. The system requires a standard paddle shift to use the manual mode of the Jaguar Sheken Shift, and is also equipped as standard.
The design of the LED tail light is not noticeable. (Photo: karen tuggay)
In order to further improve the control in any driving situation, all XF trims are equipped with a jaguar drive control with standard, eco, dynamic (sports), rain / ice / snow / snow. Each brings a big difference in comfort, performance, and all above.
The XF S I drove had Adaptive Surface Response (AdSR), as well as Configurable Dynamics and Adaptive Dynamics, which allowed me to freely select engine, suspension, steering and transmission settings. All of this made a big difference in how the Jaguar responded to my inputs, transforming it from a comfortable, relaxed luxury car one moment to a fully-fledged, responsive sports sedan the next.
- The top-of-the-line XF S featured on this page comes with all the items already mentioned, plus beefier 350mm front brake rotors with red calipers and 20-inch alloy wheels, the latter upgrade providing a significant performance and styling boost.
- The XF S interior wins in design and most materials, but the hard plastic surfaces leave something to be desired. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
- Continuing with the styling theme, the XF S also comes with a unique "S" body kit that dresses it up with a sportier front bumper, gloss black side sills, gloss black rear bumper and a subtle rear deck spoiler. Step inside and you'll notice special metal treadplates finished with unique "S" branding, the instrument panel gets a great-looking dark hex aluminum inlay and the dash top is covered in rich Luxtec leatherette.
- Additionally, the XF S comes equipped with proximity keyless entry, push button start/stop, acoustic layer windshield, auto on/off headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, electronic parking brake, power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, auto-dimming/power folding side mirrors, heated side mirrors with approach lamps, heated side mirrors with approach lamps and puddle lights, mirror and front seat memory, front seat warmers, mood lighting, universal garage door opener, backup camera, navigation, InControl Apps, Pro Services, Bluetooth phone/audio streaming, USB port, dual-zone auto HVAC, front/rear parking sonar, and more.
The XF S also comes standard with the active and passive safety systems common in this segment, plus autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitors, closing vehicle sensing, reverse traffic monitors, and driver condition monitors.
The cockpit and dashboard certainly look good, and the driver setup is great. (Photo: Karen Tuggay) My test car included the standard XF S equipment already mentioned, plus the stunning Rossello Red paint for $670, beautiful gloss black twin five-spoke alloy wheels for $770, and the Special Black package, which features a gloss black mesh grille insert and surround, gloss black side vents and the same ink treatment on the trunk garnish for $460; the Comfort and Convenience package, for $2200, adds an over-exciting gesture control system for the power trunk lid (more on that later), soft-close doors, three-way active cooled/ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. A $3, 680 Driver Assistance Package that includes a 3-inch digital gauge cluster, Pro Services, CD/DVD changer, overhead surround camera system, forward camera, 360-degree park distance control, Park Assist semi-automated self-parking, dynamic cruise control with queue assist, blind spot assist, traffic sign recognition with intelligent speed limiter, a $1, 330 head-up display system, a $410 heated windshield and heated washer jets package, plus satellite and HD radio for $210. Only the $2, 230 Premium Interior Upgrade Package was missing. Otherwise, my XF S would be considered fully loaded, adding four-zone automatic HVAC with air quality sensor and automatic air recirculation, a cooled glovebox, side window sunshades, power rear sunshade, and configurable mood lighting; plus, I would have enjoyed the optional interior trim, especially the carbon fiber. But even in the way Jaguar delivers it, the XF S is sensational, and its $85, 850 asking price is $10, 550 more than the base XF S, making it quite reasonable.

All of the features described now are fixed to lightweight and extremely rigid adhesive rivet retained aluminum body shell. In my test ride, there was a cabin with the contrast stitch between Ebony (also known as Black) leather and light oysters (gray), and Grey Figard Ebony's luxurious makeup boards were used everywhere. Especially when compared to Jaguar's small sedan XE, it is impressive, but for the fit, finishing, material quality, digital interface advantage, functional advantage, ultimate, and other highest points. It does not lead to the XF claiming that it is leading this class. Nevertheless, all the categories pointed out have gained good ratings, their completely unique appearance, feel, and the overall impressive performance deserving your entire nerves.
Like a more compact XE or a ful l-size XJ, XF is actually smaller, lighter, and more attractive than it can be imagined from its long mi d-size, and more competitive vehicles. Drive like a car. The standard equipment al l-wheeled drive, whether on snowy roads, rainy, dry conditions, or wheel spin, the aforementioned ZF 8-speed sounds a click with speed and accuracy.

The XF performance is a lightweight double-wishbone-type front suspension and integral link type rear suspension with a stable and horrible zero-100km/h straight (while the exhaust is modest). It is an important call for XF to excellent riding comfort. That said, my test car had some issues, notably the fact that my top-of-the-line model didn't even have a remote engine start on the fancy key fob. It's available as part of the InControl Remote App that you can download to your smartphone, but there have been plenty of complaints from owners on iTunes and the Play Store that it only worked 25-30% of the time. And because I only had a week to test it and wasn't even told I could download the app before testing, I couldn't pre-heat the cabin in the winter (or pre-cool it in the summer, if you will).
Given the temperature settings, I didn't appreciate the lack of an auto mode for the heated seats and steering wheel. The Jaguar only has one super-hot setting on the rim of the steering wheel, forcing me to switch them on and off throughout the drive.
The XF is roomy and comfortable. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
Another quibble is the overhead sunglasses holder, which doesn't even fit small wire-rimmed glasses like my Ray-Ban Aviators properly. To stuff my sunglasses in and close them, I had to turn them upside down, leaving the lenses rubbing against the hard side of the lid.
On a more positive note, as cool as it is that the dash-corner vents open in splendid silence and the gear selector rises into place, the hard plastics found on the glovebox lid, under-dash surfaces, console and lower door panels were less impressive.
Finally, about Tranchrid mentioned at the beginning of the review. Rather than excessive excessive excessive excessive, it might be better to say hyper active, but in any case, the useful functions were wrong. Let's explain: Basically, every time the key fob is put in a wallet or pocket passing by. Other car manufacturers that use this type of handsfleet rank opener, such as Hyundai and Genesis luxury car categories, have to stand next to the rear bumper for at least 3 seconds before working the automatic trunk clid. The trunk of my XF tester continued to open as soon as I sensed the key fob. Once, after parking the car at the shopping center, the trunk opened on the way to the shopping mall. Unfortunately, my valuables are reflected in the eyes of a suspicious person nearby. Also, if you are walking with the engine (in less than a minute) while going to the office where you usually have a trading office (because the parking lot and entrance are completely private places) to deliver something. When passing behind the XF, the trunk lid opened again. This annoying ritual was held during gasoline and another opportunity.

Considering fuel economy, the XF has achieved 12. 0L/100 km, 8. 4L/100km highway, and 10. 4L/100 km in the XF in the evaluation of the Canadian Ministry of Transport, and is installed in such a relaxed proportional luxury sedan. It is actually quite decent for such an enthusiastic drive train. Diesel is often much cheaper than gasoline, and the mileage per tank is longer.
While the trunk opened more and more, I continued to notice the size. Furthermore, since it is equipped with a more convenient 40/20/40 split, it is equipped with an overwhelming rear seat, so that the crew in the rear seat can enjoy a more comfortable and warm window seat with a sk i-like luggage in the middle. < SPAN> Finally, about the tranquid mentioned at the beginning of the review. The XF is spacious both in the front and back, thanks to the wheelbase that was extended significantly when the second generation was introduced. Front legroom is 1, 055mm, and rear legroom is 957mm.

After a week of testing, I can't say I'm in love with the 2019 XF S, but I've certainly come to appreciate its many qualities, despite some quirks. It's far from perfect, but the larger touchscreen and other improvements make it better than ever, while its performance has been great for anyone who hasn't experienced the car with a supercharged V8 (like me). With that in mind, I think it would be more economical and environmentally friendly to have the XF with a four-cylinder engine. Either way, Jaguar has covered most of the ground with the XF, making it a credible choice in the competitive midsize luxury category.

The 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS breaks the previous Road America course record by about two seconds. (Photo: Porsche)
Last fall, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR set a street-legal lap record at Germany's Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, only to be beaten by a modified version of the Stuttgart brand's 919 Hybrid EVO World Endurance Championship (WEC) racer, and now the world's winningest sports car manufacturer is claiming a new production car record at the ultra-challenging Road America course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
The GT2 RS takes the 911 into supercar territory. (Photo: Porsche)The 14-turn, 6. 5km race track combines long, high-speed straightaways, tight turns and lots of undulations, making it an easy course for most Porsche 911s, but if that 911 is a 2019 GT2 RS, it's game over for any rivals. The current title holder is a privateer in a GT2 RS, who recorded an ultra-fast lap time of 2 minutes 17. 04 seconds last year. How about shaving 1. 87 seconds off the lap time to set a new record of 2 minutes 15. 17 seconds? Daytona 24 Hours and Le Mans winner David Donohue did it in two laps.

Porsche has further refined the RS's circuit driving and has taken on the challenge with the 911 GT3 RS. Despite the engine's 200 horsepower deficit, Donohue recorded an astonishing best time of 2 minutes 18. 57 seconds, with the high-revving flat-six often just above the 8, 800 rpm redline. That the 911 GT3 RS's track time was so close to the GT2 RS's is testament to its impressive handling, especially considering Road America's long, high-speed straights and the abundance of sharp corners.

- So why does Porsche bring RS models to these circuits and update their records? Probably because the new 911 in 2020 will appear in the latter half of this year, so to speak, it is necessary to make dried grass while the sun is shining. That said, the GT2 RS, which was redesigned at the same time as the new 911, does not appear immediately.

2019 Honda Pilot Touring Road Test Review
- I really like Honda's 2019 pilot, which looks better than ever. (Photo: karen tuggay)
- Except for some unusual proposals such as elements, cross tours, and current Civic Hatchback/R, Honda's styling is usually conservative, and when it comes to model changes in the mi d-cycle, its conservatism. It's just moss. Nevertheless, it looks much better than before, despite the mere evolution of the 3rd generation pilot from 2016 to 2018 to the latest model announced last year in 2019.
- On a more bold front bumper and Facia, a TR addictive SUV type grill with a more aggressive appearance is arranged, and the touring, which is the highes t-end trim line of my tester, all of which are beautiful new trademark full LED headlamps. The book ends by. By the way, now all pilots have LED headlights, but models with low sensitivity have only LEDs in low beams, so the vertical appearance of a more sophisticated appearance of the touring model. It looks more orthodox when arranged with the type element.
- From the rear perspective, the new LED taillight is standard on all pilots, and the new rear bumper incorporates the same satin silver skid plate as the front. It is noteworthy that both the base pilot and Canad a-only black edition are equipped with black skid plates from the front to the rear. Speaking of trim highlights, the touring model is equipped with a chrome plating door handle and a sporty new 2 0-inch aluminum wheel, much more luxurious than other trims in the lineup, and the mi d-size crossover SUV. It is attractive to line up with the class.
The subtle change created a big difference. (Photo: karen tuggay)
- At the same time as the refreshment, Honda made some important mechanical changes to make touring and black edition models more sophisticated. In particular, the standard equipment aut o-start stop system has been improved, making the engine stop and restarting more quickly and smoothly. This upgrade will lead the owner to operate the star t-stop system, which will help improve fuel efficiency and reduce emission gas. Certainly, I did not experience any problems with this system through a week's test drive. In fact, I hardly noticed the operation.
- In addition, Honda has been reported to have improved the two top models of the tw o-speed 9-speed automatic transmission, but the automatic transmission, like the aut o-start / stop system, has been perfect through my test week. Whether you run in the city or on a highway, you can change the shift that is really smooth and reasonable. The owner of the lower trim of the pilot, including the base LX and midrange EX and EX-L Navi models, get a very proven track record of 6-speed automatic transmission that has not changed in 2019. Can do.
Unlike the dualization of the pilot gearbox, all trim levels have 24 valves and one SOHC 3. 5-liter V6 engine. This engine has been contributed to Honda for more than 10 years, except for a small update, but thanks to direct injection and I-VTEC, continued to be 280 horsepower and 262 LB-FT powerful torque. The combination is demonstrated, and the active control engine mount (ACM) system helps further refine by reducing noise, vibration, and Hershenness.
- The touring is equipped with a full LED headlamp and a 2 0-inch aluminum. (Photo: karen tuggay)
- The Canadian pilot is equipped with Honda's intelligent variable torque management (i-VTM4) AWD as standard, along with the Japanese brand's intelligent traction management system, and exhibits the grip immediately when starting. And it achieves a smooth and quick response. Furthermore, this energetic straight performance was further enhanced by the completely independent suspension that runs through the quick corners lightly, and the ride was comfortable.
- To tell the truth, I rarely imitate Red Bull Honda Racing's F1 driver Max Ferstappen (but I want his skills). In addition to the aforementioned aut o-start / stop system, the engine variable cylinder management (VCM) system to further improve the fuel economy by blocking the cylinder bank during a light load. I have never been on the 6-speed version, which is the only transmission that was installed in this SUV before the third generation changed the model, so I was 13. 0L/100km, a highway 9. 3L/100km. , It is not possible to prove the complex 11. 3L/100km. Nevertheless, considering the size of this thre e-row seat SUV, both numbers are impressive.
- In addition, although I did not test the pilot by driving the trailer, according to Honda's claim, the traction rated for both transmissions is the same for the same towing rating (3, 500 pounds), installed upgraded towing packages. In the case of 2, 268 kg (£ 5, 000).

When it comes to cargo space, the Pilot has long been one of the most spacious in its class. There's a generous 524 liters (18. 5 cubic feet) behind the third row, and 510 liters (18. 0 cubic feet) in the Black Edition, which was roughly the same equipped as my Touring tester. Folding down the 60/40-split-folding third row increases cargo volume to 1, 583 liters (55. 9 cubic feet) regardless of trim level, and folding all the rear seatbacks flat opens up 3, 072 to 3, 092 liters (108. 5 to 109. 2 cubic feet) of storage space, although it's important to note that if you equip the second-row captain's chairs, the center section of the cargo floor is missing. To solve this problem, some manufacturers offer folding extensions of carpeted seatbacks, but the Pilot doesn't have them. If it were me, I'd have a sheet of plywood ready to haul larger items.
On the positive side, the center console isn't too tall, so it doesn't jut out into the cargo area, a problem with some luxury models. The good news is that the console and the side-sliding/reclining captain's chairs aren't standard on the Touring trim (the Black Edition does), but instead you get a three-seat bench, increasing total occupancy from seven to eight, because the rear captain's chairs are far more comfortable than the outboard seats on the bench.
We won't go into detail about the Black Edition in this review, but it goes without saying that it's pretty much equipped the same as the seven-seat Touring trim. Standard equipment on our $52, 690 Touring tester included the aforementioned full LED headlamps, plus power-folding and auto-dimming side mirrors, blue ambient interior lighting, acoustic windshield glass, rain-sensing wipers, push-button gear selector, cooled front seats, large panoramic glass sunroof, 11-speaker and sub + 5. 1 surround, wireless device charger, new Honda CabinTalk in-car PA (that really works), HondaLink subscription service, Wi-Fi, "How Much Farther?" app, rear entertainment, HDMI input jack, 115-volt household outlet (rear), blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and more.
It almost looks digital, thanks to the large TFT display in the instrument cluster. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
Features added to the Touring trim from the lower EX-L Navi model include a sound-absorbing windshield, memory-activated side mirrors (with back tilt), heated steering wheel, four-way power passenger seat, navigation system with detailed maps, HD/satellite radio, front/rear parking sonar, heated second-row seats, one-touch third-row access (which makes it super easy to get in and out of the last row of seats), second-row side window shades, and a power liftgate.
Features added from the EX model include LED fog lamps, LED repeaters in the side mirror housings, roof rails, illuminated vanity mirrors, HomeLink universal remote, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and driver's seat with 10-way power and memory.
Finally, I should also mention some standard LX features that are bumped up to the Touring trim (the base Pilot LX starts at just $41, 290) including remote engine start, proximity keyless entry, push button start, windshield de-icer, conversation mirror that doubles as sunglasses storage, 3-zone auto HVAC, heated front seats, HondaLink Assist automatic emergency response system, and so on (all prices you can also find all the latest rebate information as well as dealer invoice prices that can save you thousands at CarCostCanada, the right source here).
- It boasts attractive high-resolution color graphics, simple operation with steering spoke-mounted switchgear, and a wealth of convenience features. The center stack has a fixed 8. 0-inch tablet-style touchscreen with even more comprehensive features. It has an easy-to-use multi-color tile design inspired by Apple products, and it comes equipped with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth with streaming audio, and a great multi-angle rearview camera with dynamic guidelines.
- The Pilot is comfortable no matter where you sit. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
- Honda also equips the Pilot with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including auto high beams, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning with lane keeping assist, and road departure mitigation as standard, and the Touring trim's cornering low and high beam full LED headlamp upgrade earns it the highest "Top Safety Pick+" rating from the IIHS. In addition, all Pilot trims have received a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA.
- You'd think Honda's PR team would have written this review, but my week of testing was not entirely positive. For starters, even my top-of-the-line Pilot Touring tester had more hard plastic than I would have liked, and the interior was not as impressively finished compared to its direct competitors. Honda has covered the dash top in soft synthetic resin, added a nice bolster to the instrument panel in front of the passenger seat, and it extends above the center touchscreen. The front door uppers are also soft to the touch, ideal for pampering your elbows, and the door inserts and armrests are of course plush, but oddly the rear door uppers are not as nicely finished, and Honda has not wrapped the roof pillars in fabric, as some rivals do.
The seat upholstery is very premium, and the driver's seat was especially comfortable, even though it only had two-way powered lumbar. As for the seats, both the second and third rows were very comfortable, and the rearmost seats were spacious enough for adults. I'm 6'1" tall, and with the second row fully pulled back, my knees were about an inch or two forward, and there was plenty of headroom.
The third row seats are among the most comfortable in their class. (Photo: Karen Tuggay)
And if you thought that wasn't enough, note that this car, with all the features that would make you think it was flown from the future, has a problem with a foot-operated parking brake. Yes, this anachronism (I'm not a fan of foot-operated parking brakes) is one of the more advanced-looking electronic gear selectors (standard on the 9-speed) available on the planet. I'll wait for Honda to solve this problem in the next model change.
With all this complaining, you might think I’m not a fan of Honda’s updated Pilot, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, I’d like to see some of the changes I’ve pointed out, but the hope for those improvements hardly means that the 2019 Pilot wasn’t impressive overall. In fact, I really enjoyed my time with Honda’s largest car. It’s fun to drive, easy to live with, and looks good, exactly what you need in a three-row family hauler.

GPS MAPS FOR GARMIN
1) GPS MAPS: Maps from BASECAMP version 4. 7. 0. 0 are not displayed when transferred to GPS.
Copy directly to Garmin folder. If that doesn't work, copy the . img file to Map folder (create the folder on SD card if there is none).
Or copy to GPS unit internal memory - Garmin folder. If that doesn't work, copy the . img file to Map folder (create such folder on GPS unit internal memory if there is none).
- Also, if you have old Tracks4Africa GPS map files in Garmin folder, copy them to a safe folder and delete them from Garmin folder on GPS unit. Be careful not to delete Garmaps and associated license (. lic) files from GPS unit internal memory.
- GPS maps will be displayed on GPS unit.
- Troubleshooting If you loaded the . img file to GPS unit internal memory and it didn't work, try deleting it from there and loading it to GARMIN/MAP folder on SD card instead.

Our Garmin SD cards will not work with this device.
- We manufacture and supply Planet Electronics with T4A SD cards that run on WinCE. It may work, but we can't say for sure because we don't manufacture cards specifically for your device. Contact your manufacturer or dealer.
- We don't sell WinCE cards, but you can contact Planet Electronics.
- 5) GPS Maps Slow Basecamp on MAC
- If Basecamp is running very slow on MAC and responds slowly when panning and zooming, we recommend uninstalling Basecamp: Uninstall Basecamp. After uninstalling Basecamp, update your OS. Then reinstall Basecamp. This may solve the problem.
- 6) GPS MAPS: BMW Motorad Navigator 5
- Compatible with T4A GPS Maps. How to insert the T4A GPS Map SD card:
- The BMW Navigator 5 has an SD card slot. To see the SD card slot, you need to open the back of the device and remove the battery. There is also another "flap" on the back of the device that you need to open (or rather lift) to connect the USB cable you received when you purchased the GPS.

- Neither Google nor Maps. me can load other maps. These apps only work with their own maps.
- 8) Video MapSource Basics FULL Tutorial - A detailed tutorial on the basics of MapSource & amp; Tracks4africa Maps.
- 9) Garmin Overlander GPS Maps from Tracks4Africa
- We tested the Overlander and the following are our basic findings:
It can only communicate with Windows computers, not Macs.
It is possible to connect to Basecamp on a Windows PC, you can load maps and it is compatible.
The SD card version from 19. 10 works with the Overlander. We noticed that this unit and some other newer Garmin models require a slightly different folder structure on the SD card. However, we could not find a way to load and copy tracks from the Overlander without using the Explorer app, since the unit is meant for use in remote locations that do not implicitly require an internet connection.
- The bracket attached to Overlander has not been able to withstand of f-road driving for a long time. Our unit contains a RAM ball adapter, so it is strongly recommended that you make this conversion and attach a unit using RAM metal and sucker.
- 10) GPS Maps: Damage to SD card
- When the Garmin GPS unit displays an error "The SD card is broken" ... There are various causes for this, and there is no problem with the T4A SD card. Try the following solution: -restart the GPS unit and clear the erro r-If you fail, connect the GPS unit to your PC with a USB cable, copy and paste the contents of the SD card to your PC. Please please. -If you fail, update Garmin using Garmin Express.
- 11) GPS Maps: Install img files for Garmin Overlander
- Install image files for T4a Garmin Overlander
- Insert the SD card into the computer adapter.
- Format the SD card. Confirm that the file system is FAT or FAT32.
- Create a folder named "MAP" in the SD card.
T4a Traveler's africa ######. Copy the img file to the Map folder.
Take out the SD card from the computer and insert it into Overlander.
Restart Overlander.
Tracks4africa data becomes active and can be seen when displaying a map.
- 12) GPS MAPS: SD card size and format on T4A map
- Recommended size:
- A 2GB card is okay, but 4GB is safe when loading additional files such as the GPS African guide.
- SD card format
- You need to format it to FAT or FAT32. Either way, we recommend FAT32.
13) GPS MAPS routing problem
The route calculation of Basecamp is wrong, or the route and time are wrong.
- The route and time are incorrect in the GPS unit.
- Please try the following to solve the problem:
It is possible to connect to Basecamp on a Windows PC, you can load maps and it is compatible.
Uninstall T4A from Garmin and Basecamp. Each is an old and new version.
After that, install a new T4A GPS Maps on Basecamps.
After that, the route is calculated in Basecamp and sent to Garmin GPS.
The GPS constantly recalculates the route that has been read (some models need to import the route after transfer). Therefore, if the setting of the route calculation of GPS and Basecamp is not exactly the same, different results can be obtained. For example, when using Shortest Distance in Basecamp, GPS must also be set to Shortest Distance (these settings are not transferred to GPS).
It may not work.
If you succeed in transferring the route and select the route, GPS will go to the starting point of the route. If the starting point is different from the one calculated by GPS, you need to recalculate the route from your current location.
If the route between two points cannot be created with Basecamp, the truck may have a "cut":
Find out if "AvoidanceS" is not checked in the BaseCamp activity profile. Africa does not have a stat e-o f-th e-art expressway or a state expressway, so if you check it, you will have problems when you route with BASECAMP. Click the arrow of the activity profile and click "Edit Activity Profile" at the bottom to open the optional box (screenshot below). Select an activity profile and proceed to routing to see which way of avoiding is turned on. If you have a profile for driving, motorcycles, or hiking, uncheck each profile.
If the detour is checked, uncheck it and click OK.
For example, there may be trucks in a concession area that cannot be traveled unless you are accompanied by a guide, like Namibia's skeleton coast. Therefore, it is possible to plan in this area by displaying a truck on the map, but it is not possible to navigate directly to this area because the road is cut. There is a way point here that usually needs a permit or a prohibition of entering north without a guide.

- We usually recommend to calculate routes in Basecamp to plan your trip. Then on the day of the trip, find your destination with GPS and let it calculate the route from your current location to your destination. You can also print your itinerary and send important waypoints/POIs from your trip planner to your GPS.
- 14) GPS MAPS: For Windows XP, you need an older version of Basecamp.
- If you have an older version of Windows (e. g. Windows XP), the newer version of Garmin Basecamp/Mapsoure may not work:
In that case, you will need to install an older version of Basecamp/Mapsource. sales@tracks4africa. co. za.
15) Garmin Tread XL - Overland Edition Features
Tread XL Overland Finding:
Works with plug and play SD card.
Picked up by MapInstall/BaseCamp/Express.
Transfer of routes and POIs from BaseCamp works as usual. However, Garmin requires you to import waypoints and routes into "trip planner" and "waypoints". You can't use garmin explore. It doesn't. It works the same as the Zumo model.
There is a track recorder app like the Overlander, which can be toggled on/off. I assume that track transfer from the Tread to BaseCamp works the same as above.
The only exception:When you connect the Tread to your PC (without an SD card inserted), it picks up two drives in the Tread.
This causes MapInstall to pick up the storage as (internal storage + SD card) even though there is no SD card inserted. As with MapInstall's Montana connection, it does not give you the choice to select two drives in the dropdown box.
When you send a map set to the Tread with MapInstall, it sends the maps to the "Map" folder on the second drive.
Then when you switch the Tread on, the maps do not appear in "MyMaps".
But if you copy this image file and paste it into the "Map" folder on the first drive via your PC, it will appear in "MyMaps" on the Tread.
APPLE MAC & amp; Tread:
As it is an android based device, it will not recognize this device and will not be picked up by apple.

22) GPS MAPS: Removing the T4A POI clutter on Garmin maps
Garmin, for some reason, includes a random T4A POI layer on their units, for example like this: This is causing a nuisance on Garmin users' devices. POIs around you pop up all over the screen represented by a white T4A number 4. To remove this, follow the steps below. Note that T4A has never asked Garmin to include our POIs on their maps or devices in this way. We reported this issue to Garmin and they have removed this issue in their latest units: Temporary Solution
Step 1
: Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable that came with your device.
Step 2: Open Garmin Express:
Open Garmin Express and navigate to your device. Once you have selected your device in Garmin Express, select Map Options (see screenshot below).
Step 3
Select Reinstall Maps and click Continue.
Step 4:
Wait until the maps reinstall is complete. This will load the corrected files onto your device and remove the clutter of Tracks4Africa Pois on your map screen when navigating.

28) GPS Maps: How do I enable GPS maps for the T4A with my Garmin GPS device?
- Depending on the GPS unit you have, the GPS range will be different. (Example: Garmin Nuvi vs. Garmin Montana have different steps.) Installed GPS maps will always be listed under Map Information under the Settings/Tools option on your GPS. Newer Garmin Nuvi Series Steps: (Please note that older Garmin Nuvi series work differently than newer units) Power on your GPS and select "Settings" on the home screen. On the next page select "Maps and Vehicles". On the next page scroll down and select myMaps. All installed GPS maps will be listed here. Select the checkbox to enable the map you want to use with your GPS. Otherwise your GPS won't know which map to use and will give you a navigation error. Garmin Montana Series Steps: On the GPS home screen, click the arrow on the left side of the screen. On the next page select Setup and then Map. Click Map Information, then Select Map. Click the map you want to enable on your GPS device. Select Enable to enable the selected GPS map. Only one map should be enabled or else your GPS will give you a navigation error. 29) GPS MAPS: Can I load T4A maps onto a Garmin satellite navigation system?
- For us, satellite navigation and GPS are the same thing.
Our maps are compatible with Garmin GPS that are map-enabled. Garmin specifies in the specifications section if their GPS is map-enabled and can load additional maps, but this applies to almost all GPS.
- 30) GPS MAPS: Export from Basecamp to Excel
- If you save your Basecamp/Mapsource file as a . gpx file (instead of . gdb), you can open the . gpx file in Excel. Before you open the final file, you will see some warning messages: Click yes. Click open as xml. Click OK. If your tracks and routes are in the same file, you will see another error message. You will see a spreadsheet with lots of columns.
- 31) GPS MAPS: Which GPS units are compatible with Tracks4Africa GPS maps?

32) GPS Maps: What are Tracks4Africa Maps?
T4A GPS Maps is a set of 16 regional GPS maps covering most parts of the African continent. If you are traveling to Africa for leisure or business and are looking for GPS maps to guide you, you will be pleased with the accuracy and detail of the T4A GPS Maps. T4A GPS Maps are available for download from our website or as a plug-and-navigate SD card, from our online store or most outdoor retailers. See our comprehensive list of retailers. For the latest map updates and coverage, see the latest T4A GPS Maps on the SD Card. T4A maps are built from GPS data provided by travelers in the T4A community. Travelers like you record their travel experiences and share them with others through our maps. Tracks4Africa collects, catalogs and processes these data submissions to create reliable GPS maps. Our maps are trusted for their high integrity because we can link the names of data contributors to each place and road on the map. Our unique GPS maps of Africa are routable in most parts of Africa and can actually give turn-by-turn directions from the Cape to Cairo. Don't expect complete wall-to-wall coverage from our maps. We strive to map only places that are relevant to travelers and build the safest routable GPS maps of Africa. Check out our Africa maps on our website. 33) GPS Maps Choosing a GPS for Tracks4Africa Maps
- Can read Garmin maps
Can receive maps (SD card slot not essential)
- Can receive car maps from PC/Mac
- Choosing a GPS is difficult and is based on a few questions (ie. Compiled by T4A Directory, Johann Groenewald: 2015):
- Are you going to use it only in the car? Or do you want to use it for hiking and MTB too? If so, look for something with replaceable AA batteries and that is sturdy. Generally speaking, this would be something like Oregon or GPSMap62. If you are only going to use it in the car, look at the Nuvi series. The Nuvi500 is waterproof, so it is marketed as an off-road GPS, but it is not really necessary to have a waterproof GPS in your car. If your dashboard gets submerged in water, you will have much more serious problems than a GPS.
- Are you planning to use a GPS on your bike? If so, you'd want one that's waterproof and purpose-built. Take a look at the Garmin Zumo series - the Garmin Zumo series is BMW's bike range and comes with a glove-friendly interface, Bluetooth connectivity, and more. Our maps work with these units. Many bikers use the Zumo 660, but there are newer models available too. Check out our website: http://www. garmin. co. za/motorcycle_gps. php
Are you planning to record tracks with your GPS? All GPS can record waypoints, but only a few can record tracks. This is useful if you want to trace back the route you've taken, but is only really necessary for extreme off-road riding. T4A's maps are based solely on such track recordings, so we encourage our users to record tracks and constantly submit them so we can update our maps with better data.
Are you planning to do city navigation with your GPS? That is, to find addresses in South African cities (that don't exist outside of South Africa)? We call this "pizza delivery". If so, you can get (any) GPS with city maps loaded. All Garmin Nuvi's come preloaded with these types of maps, and they are the most cost-effective way to get such maps. If you buy Oregon or GPSMap 62, you won't get the City Navigator maps pre-installed.
Tracks4Africa is more than good enough for navigation to locations within cities, i. e. points of interest that have been re-mapped. Tracks4Africa's maps cover campsites, fuel, accommodation, and other features relevant to travelers in a very extensive way. The further you get from the city, the more detailed it can provide.
- 30) GPS MAPS: Export from Basecamp to Excel
- It is also important to note that Oregon and GPSMap 62 do not provide voice guidance. For some people, this won't be an issue since they have the voice guidance muted, but it could be a deciding factor. The Oregon and GPSMap62 are much better GPS units for wilderness navigators, so I would seriously look at those two units if I was planning on doing any hiking or related types of navigation.
- In terms of cost, Montana/Overlander/Drive: Montana is cheaper than Garmin Overlander and is a very good GPS to use the Tracks4Africa GPS map. If you are looking for something cheaper, we recommend Drive at a large screen. All of these routing work in the same way, and recently it has all track recording functions.
- Garmin Overlander: Click here for details.
- TRACKS4AFRICA's blog post is more detailed:
- 34) Can I install the GPS map Tracks4africa GPS map on Windows or MacBook?
The TRACKS4AFRICA map is compatible with Windows OS and Mac OS. The TRACKS4AFRICA map is compatible with Windows OS and Mac OS. Please be careful for Mac users: OS X Lion 10. 07 and Lion 10. 7. 5 are not compatible with our map. To install a T4A map on your system, you need to upgrade to the latest Mac OS.
- 35) How to upgrade the GPS map an existing Tracks4a map?

38) What are GPS map Garmin Basecamp and Mapinstall?
Garmin Basecamp is an application that allows you to display a map that is compatible with Garmin on Windows PC and Macintosh, set a route plan, and transfer howpoints, tracks and routes between PC/Mac and Garmin GPS devices. This is a free application of Garmin, which will eventually be replaced by Mapsource. Click here for BaseCamp for Windows Installation Links, Garmin Mapinstall is also a free application, and you can transfer Garmin compatible maps on Windows PC and Macintosh to the Garmin GPS unit. Mapinstall is a function that is also incorporated in Garmin Basecamp. Click here for the link to install Mapinstall for Windows.
39) GPS Map: What is GARMIN MAPSOURCE?
Garmin Mapsource is a free application, displaying a map that is compatible with Garmin on Windows PC, planning a root planning, and allows you to transfer maps, wave points, tracks, and routes between PCs and Garmin GPS devices. 。 Mapsource is very similar to BaseCamp, but it is easier to use, so many people like BaseCamp. However, MAPSOURCE will eventually be abolished. Note: Before installing Garmin Mapsource, the PC must have a Garmin Basecamp / Mapinstall installed. Click here for the link to install Mapsource for Windows.
40) GPS MAPS: Is it possible to load both Tracks4AFRICA maps and street maps to the Garmin GPS unit?
Yes, you can have both map sets on your Garmin GPS device, but you cannot have both switched on at the same time. Some Garmin GPS units have street maps preloaded into the internal memory of the GPS unit and cannot be overwritten by sending a new map to the internal memory. If the street maps are not preloaded on your GPS and you want to have both Tracks4Africa maps and street maps on your GPS, you will need to transfer both map sets to your Garmin GPS unit at the same time. If you do not have the Street maps loaded on your PC (using Garmin MapSource or Garmin MapInstall) that you want to transfer to your GPS, you can transfer the Tracks4Africa maps to a separate SD card. This will allow you to use both map sets simultaneously on your Garmin GPS unit and you will be able to switch between the two map sets. Please note that you can only select one map set at a time. Note If you have purchased your SD card from one of our dealers, please make sure that the SD card is registered on our website. Your details will be recorded and you will be able to get a discount in our online shop if an upgrade is available. 41) GPS Maps: I have a Garmin 76cx, 276, 60csx and I am having a hard time searching for addresses on my garmap maps if tracks4africa maps are also on my device. How can I solve this problem?
To solve this problem you need to store the street maps and the T4A maps in separate memories. One can be in the GPS internal memory and the other on a separate SD card. Remember! Every time a map set is sent to the Garmin GPS, the previously loaded maps are erased from the GPS. If your Garmap maps are on the SD card, send your T4A maps to the device internal memory.
42) GPS Maps: I can't find POIs on my T4A with my GPS.
Make sure only the T4A maps are turned on.
Set your GPS to Demo/Simulation mode. (Settings > Navigation).
Then set New Location to a point close to the area you want to search for POIs. Point the arrow on the map to select the new location and select Enter. You will then be able to search for POIs within a radius of the new location you just entered.

- 44) GPS MAPS: I have a Garmin Nuvi GPS unit and I can't see any POIs at certain zoom levels.
On the Garmin Nuvi series, you have to zoom the map in to about 30-50m to see the POIs. The Garmin Nuvis is a city navigator, which means you can't see all the POIs at the same zoom level as an outdoor GPS unit. Garmin Nuvi example maps at different zoom levels: 500m zoom level 30m zoom level The latest Nuvi is purposely designed to limit the amount of POIs shown on the screen to avoid cluttering the screen. That's why you can't see all the POIs at 80m zoom level. To see the POIs on the GPS, search for them in 'Where To' (Main Menu), create a waypoint on the GPS, or transfer a waypoint from MapSource / BaseCamp to have the POIs appear on the map.
45) GPS MAPS: Can I load the Tracks4Africa GPS maps onto an 8GB+ SD card?
Most Garmin GPS units will not work with SD cards larger than 8GB.
46) GPS MAPS: If my phone has GPS setup, can I get the maps from the T4A onto my phone?
Yes, there are apps for iPhone, iPad, Android devices. - To see the TRACKS4AFRICA map on a PC / Mac, follow the following steps: PC: Start & GT; Garmin folder. Find and open Garmin Mapsource / Garmin Basecamp. In Garmin Mapsource, search for the View of the upper toolbar, switch to the product, and select the map you want to display in the dro p-down menu. In Garmin Basecamp, you can search for "Map" in the upper toolbar and select the map you want to display in the dro p-down menu. Mac: Select "Move" & Gt; "Application" on the upper toolbar. In the application, select Garmin Basecamp. In Garmin Basecamp, select the map you want to display in the "Show" & Gt; "Select" & Gt; "Switch to Product" & Gt; Dropdown Menu in the upper toolbar.
- 49) GPS Maps: Your GPS is not displayed on your computer.
If you have an old Garmin GPS unit like Garmin 276CSX and have a computer equipped with Windows 7, 8, or subsequent operating systems, the PC is too old for the operating system, so GPS is detected. I will not do it. This also applies to the new Macintosh operating system Merverick. If you can't detect GPS on a PC/Mac despite using the latest GPS unit and operating system, try installing a Garmin USB driver from the Garmin website: http: //www8. garmin. . com/Support/agree. jsp? ID = 591 If you upgrade to Windows 11: Win11 device driver does not contain anything you need in the old 276C device. Try the following steps: Please follow the steps below: 1) Download the latest USB driver software: Garmin: USB Drivers Updates & Amp; Downloads 2) Install the latest we b-up data: https: // www8 . garmin. com/Support/Download_details. jsp? ID = 931
When both of these are installed and restarted, Basecamp will recognize 276c.
50) GPS Map: The map of T4A is not very detailed in Garmin Basecamp. How can I see more in detail? (Explanation of Windows and Mac)
- You can increase the details of the map as follows: Zoom in, zoom out, and look at the details ("Display" & Gt; "Zoom In" in the upper toolbar) 2 different zooms. ・ Example of GPS map at the level: 70km zoom, level 700m zoom, level Next, please also check the following: Windows PC: Open BaseCamp “display” & gt; “Toolbar” & GT; “Details” Click "Level" (you need to enable). The details of the map are now set to "highest". For Mac, open BaseCamp. See the window at the bottom of the Basecamp screen. Move the cursor to the plus symbol and increase the details of the map. The details of the map are now set to the highest value.
51) GPS MAPS: New GPS maps have been released.
First, make sure your map details in Basecamp are set to highest. See My T4A maps in Garmin BaseCamp don't have much detail. How do I get more detail? (Windows and Mac instructions). Second, please note the following: As our map products grow and our maps get larger and have more information, we need to supplement our maps' performance and functionality. We never remove information or release maps with less information than the previously released version. For example, a town like Parapay: In the 14. 10 release, this town and its POIs might have looked like this at one zoom level: Then, when you view the same town at the same zoom level in a new map version, say 18. 05, it might look like this: This difference in appearance has to do with at what zoom levels various information is turned on and displayed. At higher zoom levels, the map will be heavier and slower because more information is displayed. Conversely, 18. 05 has more information than older maps like Parapi: So, the information in 18. 05 is only on at a zoom level or two lower than in previous versions, but there is definitely more information. This is a necessary evil to balance good performance with information. A heavy and slow map would cause a lot of frustration in terms of usability.
52) GPS Map Loading T4A GPS Maps onto the new GARMIN nuviCam LMTHD with 2 memory cards
The new GARMIN nuviCam LMTHD with built-in camera comes with 2 memory cards. When you use Mapinstall to load maps onto the device, the installer loads the maps onto the memory cards, but since this is a new model GARMIN with 2 cards, the installer doesn't know the difference between the camera's memory card and the map's memory card. Tracks4Africa maps may load onto the camera memory card if both cards are slotted in - GARMIN nuviCam LMTHD displays an error asking you to move the memory card to the map slot. To resolve this issue, remove the camera memory card to allow Mapinstall to see only the map memory card and try again. Tracks4Africa GPS maps should then successfully load onto the correct memory card in the map memory slot.
53) GPS MAPS: A newly purchased SD card version 18. 05 has reached the end of its life and could not be loaded.

60) GPS Map: Please tell me how to transfer the map from Garmin Mapsource to Garmin GPS or compatible devices.
First the maps are sent to the GPS system from Garmin MapSource (if you don't have Garmin MapSource, download it from the Garmin website). Later, I searched for T4A and checked it, saw many reviews, and decided to buy a subscription. And I've never been disappointed with this product. I purchased Garmin Drive 61 to use T4A. I am satisfied with everything provided by T4A. I'm still a bit struggling with Basecamp, but I'm gradually being able to use it. I recently went to Alpine Swift and went to Tefendel. And I saw the traversing of Tenna Head at T4A. I would like to thank everyone who gave me details and information about this area. I started planning a trip to Lesot and Kazedam. I'm glad I had T4A. Once the download is complete, double-click the zip folder to open the saved file on your desktop. Updated to the 2023 edition. Endurafrica. co. za has been using T4A since 2016. To be honest, T4A is the best map. We use the T4A map in combination with BaseCamp and Montana 650/700i, but it works perfectly. In addition, the installation is very simple (we use a Mac OS), and it's really a plus that the map is provided in both . gmap and . img formatting. T4A is well made. In fact, it is unlikely that you will travel on a remote trail in African people without this!4 out of 5 points
