Minimum recommended speedWhat should I ask for a router for XFINITY?
Unlike cable modem, Xfinity's cable Internet does not require a specific router. However, if you are using a Gigabit Extra (only Gigabit in some areas) of XFINITY, a router with a 2. 5Gbps WAN port, or a router that supports a link to 2Gbps connection to a modem. Is required. Which method to choose depends on your current modem, but in either way, we support Xfinity's 1. 2Gbps cable Internet speed.
We also prefer Wi-Fi 6 than old Wi-Fi 5 standards to support more devices, enable faster Wi-Fi speeds and process data more efficiently. Masu. New client devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. support Wi-Fi 6, but even if you are currently using Wi-Fi 5 devices, we will eventually upgrade Wi-Fi 6. You can use the router.
Is there an optimal XFINITY plan?
If you feel that the cable Internet is too late, you may need a higher speed plan. Click the button below to see the XFINITY plan.

What I Like
It fell just short of the TP-Link Archer AX6000 and AX90. But it has a lot to offer for the price, including free antivirus and parental control, a 2. 5Gbps WAN port, link aggregation if your modem doesn't have a 2. 5Gbps port, and load on wired connections.
What I wish it was more It's missing some features that the similar ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 offers: a VPN client, printer sharing, Google Assistant support, and full-fledged gaming tools.
Why we recommend it Of course, the AX11000 is aimed at gamers, but we also made this router our top pick in other categories. It's a great alternative to the Nighthawk RAX200 if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a router.

What We Like
This router had faster Wi-Fi 6 speeds than our top pick in our testing, but it fell short of the Archer AX90 and NETGEAR's Nighthawk RAX200. Like the Archer AX11000, this router has a wired connection, a 2. 5Gbps WAN port, and TP-Link's free HomeCare suite, but it doesn't have a third Wi-Fi band.
But it doesn't have a third Wi-Fi band: What kept this router from being our top pick is that it's limited to two Wi-Fi bands and eight streams. We also wish the web interface had a dark mode, but that's true not just for this router, but for all TP-Link routers.

My favorite AX20 is an upgrade from a cheaper and lo w-speed A10 model, which provides appropriate speeds based on data and video tests. It does not support TP-Link's free HOMECARE suite, but has support for parenting control, built-in VPN server and client, and Amazon Alexa.
I want you to make it better. The 5GHz band requires at least four streams, and the more devices you increase, the more delays and speed decreased. Unfortunately, the choices in this price range are limited.

My favorite RAX200 was the fastest router that I have tested, average 20Mbps (160 feet). It can be set on 2. 5Gbps Internet via WAN/LAN port or 2Gbps Internet using a link aggregation. You can also connect 2Gbps LAN to the NAS or local game server using the other two ports.
I wish they had done more I hate paying a lot for a router and then having to pay more every month for services that other routers give me for free. That's my only complaint.

The Deco X55 can't match the speed of the Eero Pro 6, but it's also significantly cheaper. The three Ethernet ports are a plus. You can use one as a backload to increase the throughput of the two satellite units.
I wish it had done more I wish it had the same tri-band setup as the Eero Pro 6, which would have given it better speeds, but that would have increased the price. This kit also benefits from the free features of HomeCare, instead of locking down security and parental controls behind a HomeShield Pro subscription.

XFINITY router specifications and functions
There is no need for a router with special functions to use Xfinity's cable Internet. The only obstacle is the Gigabit Plan of XFINITY and a modem or gateway.
Wi-Fi 6
I always tell you Wi-Fi6 rather than Wi-Fi5. New standards have realized battery life, improving data management, and faster on compatible devices.
Wi-Fi 6 supports more devices at the same time and provides up to eight or more streams one way, reducing the bandwidth. Beam forming does not need to swing the device like a flag for better reception to turn the beam to the device.
Multiple wired ports
The more wired ports are, the better.
Imagine a smart TV, four game consoles, Apple TV media streakers, Chromecast Ultra, Echo Dot, Google Home Mini, several smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Is it a considerable number? Now, as I explained my TV room, all devices want to access the 5GHz band Wi-Fi.
All devices in the home, such as smartphones, smartphone appliances, and media streakers, are rushing to the 5GHz band like a zombie swarm. The speed of each wireless device decreases and the waiting time increases. I already know that games, streaming videos and music don't need much speed, but the needs of all these devices and bandwidth via Wi-Fi increase.
By switching devices such as console, media streaker, smart TV, etc. to wired connections, radio waves can be secured for devices that do not support wired smartphones and tablets. All devices are still squeezing the bandwidth of the Internet, but even if you are crazy about Tiktok, Stranger Things Season 4, Mandalorian (guilty), etc., the Wi-Fi connection shares streams. There is no need.
Mult i-igig port
- Xfinity's Gigabit Cable Internet Plan requires a router with one of the following:
- 2. 5Gbps Internet port (WAN) or or
A router connecting the standard 1Gbps WAN port and 1Gbps LAN port.
For example, NetGear's Nighthawk Rax200 supports both configurations. If you have a modem that supports 2Gbps using a link aggregation, pair the WAN port with the router LAN 1. If the modem has a 2. 5Gbps port, use a 2. 5Gbps port (LAN 5) for the router.
Three Wi-Fi bands
The general router offers a 2. 4GHz connection and a 5GHz connection, each with a minimum of 2x2 streams. Each time a device is added to the 5GHz connection, the wireless load used for sending and receiving in that band increases.
The third band adds more Wi-Fi bandwidth to reduce congestion and load generated by dual band routers. By default, some routers set one 5 GHz bandwidth to a low channel (20 MHz, 40 MHz), and the other 5 GHz bandwidth (80 MHz, 160 MHz) is set.
Methodology
evaluation
We use TP-Link Archer AX11000 in various categories. Equipped with three bands, 12 streams, eight LAN ports, 2. 5Gbps Internet ports, and free Homecare security suite. It's not cheap, and it's not the fastest router I've ever tested. The AX6000 model is cheaper and slightly faster, but will lose the third band provided by the AX11000. It's a decision decision.

Test method
Set up each router in the office, connect to a local test server to test the router speed. After that, the test data is sent between the wireless device and the server, and measured many times in consideration of the fluctuation of the Wi-Fi speed.
The first test is performed near a router without an obstacle to check the strength and speed of Wi-Fi. At the distance of 10 feet, 20 feet, and 30 feet, only the glass door that blocks the view of the router is installed, and this process is repeated. In the 4 0-foot and 5 0-foot outdoor test, the same glass door and the door of the outer wall prevent the way.
There was also a test in the television and the corridor on the left side of the office, but there were also glass doors, three walls, and an airhandler unit that blocked the view of the router. Another test point, the dining room, is on the right side of the kitchen, television room, and the office, with two walls and glass doors in this test.
At the same time, a hig h-speed storage device is connected to the router to test videos and streaming, and two wireless devices, two telephones connected to the same wireless band, three tablets, and one laptop at the same time. I streamed a 4K video.
