Dynamic core assignment
The dynamic core allocation architecture allows you to adjust the mult i-core resources of the Cisco Catalyst 8200 series edge platform according to your business needs. You can select from the following two core assignments.
Service Plane Heavy mode is a service-oriented core allocation where the platform's multicore resources are configured to balance throughput while providing sufficient resources for containerized services. If you require container-based integrated services, select Service Plane Heavy mode. With the 8-core SoC architecture, C8200-1N-4T can run KVM and/or Docker container-based applications on up to 3 cores. With the 4-core SoC architecture, C8200L-1N-4T allocates 1 core for Thousand Eyes Agent in Service Plane Heavy mode. KVM and Docker container-based applications are not available on this platform. Service Plane Heavy mode is the default core allocation that all C8200 platforms ship from the factory.
Data Plane Heavy core allocation reuses the platform's multicore resources and optimizes for high traffic throughput. Data plane heavy architecture completely removes resources for containerized services in the case of 8-core platform.
To maximize platform performance and investment, we recommend changing to data plane heavy core allocation if you do not require container-based services.
Speed on services by Cisco Software-Defined Wan
Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN is an intelligent software service that reliably and securely connects users, devices, and branch offices over diverse WAN transport links. The Cisco Catalyst 8000 edge platform family dynamically routes traffic to the "best" link based on the current application and network conditions to deliver a great application experience. With Catalyst SD-WAN, you can tightly control application performance, bandwidth usage, data privacy, and WAN link availability. This control is critical as each branch office conducts higher volume and mission-critical business with both on-premise and cloud controllers.
Simplified Traditional Routing Deployments and Workflows with Cisco Software-Defined Routing
Cisco SD-Routing enables you to manage Cisco routing devices through Cisco Catalyst™ SD-WAN Manager. This brings operational simplicity and agility to traditional routing deployments by eliminating the need to drive trucks for routine operational tasks, and also reduces OpEx by leveraging Catalyst SD-WAN Manager as a unified management platform for not only routing but also Catalyst SD-WAN.
SD-Routing gives customers the flexibility to manage routing devices with on-premise controllers and will be available on cloud-delivered controllers in the near future.
Operationally, Cisco SD-Routing provides an intuitive device lifecycle orchestration workflow for secure device onboarding and secure device software upgrades. Leveraging the rich monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities of Catalyst SD-WAN Manager, administrators can quickly isolate and resolve network issues.
Optimization of application performance
Ensure your SD-WAN network meets service level agreements (SLAs) and maintains strong performance even during network issues. Branch multi-cloud access accelerates Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) applications by simply pushing templates from the SD-WAN controller. Features such as TCP optimization, Forward Error Correction (FEC), and packet replication improve application performance and enhance user experience.
You can transition from a traditional, complex WAN network to an agile, software-defined WAN with integrated security. The Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platform connects the branch to the Internet and cloud with industry-leading defense against major web attacks. Secure Direct Internet Access (DIA) from the branch optimizes branch workloads, especially for cloud-hosted applications, and improves performance. At the same time, secure DIA ensures that the branch is protected from external threats.
Applications and users are more distributed than ever before, and the Internet has effectively become the new enterprise WAN. As enterprises continue to adopt Internet, cloud, and SaaS, network and IT teams are challenged to deliver consistent, reliable connectivity and application performance over networks and services that they do not own or directly manage.
The Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platform is integrated with Cisco ThousandEyes Internet and Cloud Intelligence. IT administrators can now expand visibility to include hop-by-hop analysis in the network underlay, proactive monitoring of SD-WAN overlay, and measuring the performance of SaaS applications. This granular visibility ultimately reduces the mean time to identify (MTTI) an issue and speeds up resolution time.
The Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platform offers a wealth of audio service on both SD-WAN and conventional Cisco iOS XE software function stacks. Cisco is the only SD-WAN vendor that directly integrates analog and digital IP into a single CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) and reduces Capex and OPEX. In SD-WAN mode, the Catalyst 8200 series prevents internal and external power outages by SRST (Survivable Remote Site Telephony), and brunch routers play the role of call control PBX to ensure telephone communication survival. Also, Cisco Unified Boarder Element (Cube) session border controller (SBC), Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Survival Remote Site (SRST), ISDN, Conventional Cisco IOS XE voice use cases such as voiceover IP We will continue to support you.
Cloud native agility by programmable software architecture
Cisco continues to provide conventional Cisco IOS XE routing stacks with abundant functions in the Catalyst 8200 series. IP routing, IPSEC, QoS, NAT, Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR), Flexible Netflow (FNF), many other functions. Completely programmable Part of Cisco IOS XE, a software architecture. You can select Cisco IOS XE SD-WAN and Cisco IOS XE with the integrated software image and single binary file. Also, when selected, you can easily migrate from one side to the other.
The Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platform is built for hig h-speed CAT18 LTE and 5G networks. With CAT18 LTE and 5g high throughput, the wireless WAN solution is becoming an option that can be feasible in the use case of the primary transport. These platforms support both CAT18 LTE and 5G functions of integrated plaginary modules and external cellular gateways to improve the throughput that supports these use cases. Integrated PIM modules or external cellular gateways can be selected based on celluler ballage at a specific branch, or in cooperation with high availability Active-Active cellular WAN solutions.
Layer 2 LAN (switch) and layer 3 WAN (routing) port
The Catalyst 8200 series continues to support Cisco for flexible single box solutions with both switching and routing. The NI M-based layer 2 LAN module offers 4-ports and 8-ports switching and can use the options with a maximum of 1Gbps PoE function. The NI M-based layer 3 WAN module provides an expansion layer 3-port density of up to 2. 5Gbps MGIG with full parity with four embedded layer 3 ports of the Catalyst 8200 series.
Lanwa n-Flexible Layer 2 Switching and Layer 3 Routing
In addition to a wide range of NI M-based Ethernet modules that combine switched L2 ports and routing L3 ports into scalables, the Cisco Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platform also offers a new Lanwan module series that combines both functions. These new NI M-based modules provide layer 2 and layer 3 connections, and provide thre e-layered layer 3 ports for buil t-in layers. The Lanwan module is provided as an 8-port RJ45 module from 100Mbps to 2. 5Gbps MGIG, with 90 PoE capacity. In addition, the Lanwan module supports Wan MacSec in Lan MacSec in all ports that operate in layer 2 mode and on all ports that operate in Layer 3 mode. With the introduction of the Lanwan series module, we provide brunch to unprecedented flexibility, such as hig h-density of layer 3 ports, increased PoE capacity, and secure connection using H W-based Macsec.
Catalyst 8200 series supports various voice modules in order to meet various voice needs at branches. Examples of voice modules include foreign exchange bureaus (FXS), foreign exchange bureau (FXO), and digital signal processors (DSP).
The Cisco Catalyst 8200 Series Edge Platform is designed from zero with sustainability in mind. These platforms are standardized with hig h-efficiency power supply and common form factors to share tools and accessories. By eliminating the use of plastic bezels and the need for wet painting, harmful chemicals are reduced and recycled is enhanced.
All platforms are designed to make the most of the PCB and ingredients in the motherboard design, and to adopt a common module between platforms. More than 70%of the ISR4000 Platform Family modules are reused on the Cisco Catalyst 8200 and 8300 series edge platforms.
We have standardized the integration of functions on a single SoC (System on a chip) architecture with very high power efficiency throughout the platform and portfolio. In addition to dynamic power management, the module has a power and thermal management function. In addition, all platforms are equipped with aerometer to detect the air pressure and estimate the installation altitude. As a result, lo w-altitude installation can reduce the number of fans' speed and achieve significant energy savings.

Internal storage
The internal storage of the SE360 V2 server is implemented as M. 2 NVME drive and 7mm Sata/NVME SSD. Drive is defined as a boot drive or data drive according to the purpose of use on the server.
The buil t-in drive is as follows:
- The data drive is attached to the left wing or the right wing of the riser cage, and the M. 2 adapter at the bottom. The system can support up to eight NVME M. 2 data drives in total.
- Left wing: Up to two SATA/NVME 2. 5 inch 7mm drive, or up to four M. 2 PCIE 4. 0 drive with M. 2 adapter.
- Right wing: Up to four M. 2 PCIe 4. 0 drive using the M. 2 adapter.
- Bottom M. 2 Adapter (Adapter Module with M. 2 cable BS5M): M. 2 PCIE 3. 0 drive with up to two M. 2 adapters. However, if the riser assembly (M. 2 riser) (function BS5H) is installed on the server, the bottom adapter BS5M is not supported by thermal restrictions.
Note: The M. 2 adapter design for the left wing and the right wing uses one M. 2 holder to assemble the M. 2 SSD on the upper/ lower. In other words, the length of the M. 2 SSD must be the same as 2280/22110 assembled in one holder.
The boot drive is installed on an I/O module with a dedicated slot, and supports one or two 2280 NVME M. 2 drives.
The order information of the adapter module is described in the table below.

Table 16. VROC upgrade
Part Number Feature Code explanation 4L47A39164 B96g / BS7N Intel VROC (VMD NVME RAID) Premium / M. 2 Premium 4L47a83669 BR9B / BS7M Intel VROC (VMD NVME RAID) Standard / Standard for M. 2 VROC Premium is required only when supporting the RAID-5 of the NVME drive with SE360 V2. In the following cases, there is no need to upgrade the VROC Premium license:
- If the SATA drive is connected to the o n-board SATA port, you do not need a VROC Premium.
- If you use RAID 0, 1, and 10 on the NVME drive, you do not need VROC Premium.
Virtualization Support: The virtualization support of Intel VROC is as follows:
- VROC SATA RAID (Rste): VROC Sata Raid is not supported by virtualized hyper visors such as ESXI, KVM, XEN, Hyper-V. Virtualization is supported only in AHCI (no n-RAID) mode o n-board SATA port.
- VROC (VMD) NVME RAID: VROC (VMD) NVME RAID is supported by ESXI, KVM, XEN, Hyper-V. ESXI support is only RAID 1, and other RAID levels are not supported. Windows and Linux OS support VROC RAID NVME with both host boot and guest OS functions, supporting RAID-0, 1, 5, and 10.

CEC is a secondary hardware Root of Trust (RoT) module that provides an additional layer of security for customers with high regulatory requirements or high security standards. NVIDIA employs a multi-layered security model, so we expect the protection provided by the primary Root of Trust built into the GPU will be sufficient for most customers. Products with no CEC still offer secure boot, secure firmware updates, firmware rollback protection, and in-band firmware update disable. Notably, without the CEC chip, the GPU does not support key revocation and firmware attestation. Field upgrades are allowed to mix CEC and non-CEC GPUs of the same GPU type. For information about the GPU, see the ThinkSystem GPU Summary at https://lenovopress. com/lp0768-thinksystem-thinkagile-gpu-summary.

Description
Feature Code explanation ThinkShield Key Vault Portal Managed System Lockdown Mode is enabled at the factory (activation required upon delivery). The server is protected and in System Lockdown Mode until it is registered and activated in the ThinkEdge Key Vault Portal. If the server is tampered with, the server is locked down and the data is protected until it is re-authenticated in the Key Vault Portal. BYBQ XClarity Controller Managed DCSC default selection. System Lockdown mode is not enabled at the factory. Configures security for a server managed by the XCC2 management processor. The server boots on initial power up and is not locked down by default against tamper events. Tamper detection can be configured in the XCC2 interface if required. This server can be converted to be managed by the ThinkShield Key Vault Portal at a later stage (one-way conversion) if required. If System Lockdown is enabled at the factory, the system is shipped in System Lockdown mode and requires activation before operation. There are three ways to activate the server: Using a mobile device (iOS or Android) connected to the USB management port on the front of the server and running the ThinkShield Edge mobile management app. Connect the system to the Internet via the XCC management port on the front of the server and access the ThinkShield Key Vault Portal from a web browser on another system.
- Disconnected mode where neither a mobile device nor an Internet connection to the SE360 V2 is available.
- Converting from XCC Managed to Portal Managed: Is it possible to convert a system from XCC Managed security to ThinkShield Key Vault Portal Managed through the XCC management interface? Once a server is in ThinkShield Key Vault Portal Managed mode, it cannot be converted back to XClarity Controller Managed.
- The SE360 V2 has a Security LED that indicates the status of the server:
LED is on: LED on: Security is enabled.
LED blinking: Security is enabled and the server is in a locked down state. This is because it was shipped from the factory in locked down mode or it has been locked down as a result of a tamper event. To begin operation, the system must be started or rebooted.
- LED off: Security is disabled and the system is operational.
- Factory SED Encryption
- SE360 V2 also supports the option to enable encryption of SED drives in the factory using the feature BYBS, as shown in the table below. This feature enables SED on selected drives and sets the SED Authentication Key (SED AK).

Security function
PFR works with the following server components:
UEFI image - the low-level server firmware that connects the operating system to the server hardware.
XCC image - the management "engine" software that controls and reports on the state of the server, separate from the server operating system.
- FPGA Image - the code that runs the server's lowest level hardware controller on the motherboard
- Lenovo Platform Root of Trust Hardware performs three main functions:
- Detect - measures the authenticity of firmware and updates.
Recover - recovers corrupted images to known safe images.
- Protect - monitors the system to ensure that known firmware is not maliciously written
- These enhanced protections are implemented using a dedicated, separate security processor, whose implementation has been rigorously verified by leading third-party security companies. Security evaluation results and design details are available for customers to review, providing unprecedented transparency and assurance.
- SE360 V2 supports Secure Boot, a UEFI firmware security feature developed by the UEFI Consortium that ensures that only immutable, signed software is loaded at boot time. Using Secure Boot helps prevent malicious code from being loaded and prevents attacks such as the installation of rootkits. Lenovo offers the ability to enable Secure Boot from the factory, ensuring end-to-end protection. You can also disable Secure Boot from the factory and enable it later if you prefer.

Risks posed by the presence of excessive particulate levels or harmful gas concentrations include damage that may cause equipment to malfunction or fail completely. This specification establishes particulate and gas limit values intended to avoid such damage. The limit values should not be considered or used as definitive limits, since many other factors, such as air temperature and moisture content, can affect the effect of the movement of particulates and environmental corrosives and gaseous contaminants. In the absence of specific limit values set forth in this document, you must implement practices to maintain particulate and gas levels consistent with the protection of human health and safety. If Lenovo determines that particulate or gas levels in your environment have caused damage to your device, Lenovo may condition provision of repair or replacement of the device or part on the implementation of appropriate remedial measures to mitigate such environmental contamination. Implementation of such remedial measures is your responsibility. Limitations
Severity level G1 according to ANSI/ISA 71. 04-1985 1:
Copper reactivity levels must be less than 200 angstroms/month (Å/month ≒ 0. 0035 μg/cm2-hour weight gain). 2
Silver reactivity levels must be less than 200 angstroms/month (Å/month ≒ 0. 0035 μg/cm2-hour weight gain). 3
- Gaseous corrosive reactivity monitoring must be performed approximately 5 cm (2 in.) above the floor at the air inlet front of the rack at one-quarter and three-quarter frame height, or where air velocity is much higher.
- Data centers must meet ISO 14644-1 Class 8 cleanliness.
- In the case of a data center without air side economyer, the cleanliness of the ISO 14644-1 class 8 may be satisfied by selecting one of the following filtration methods:
The indoor air is continuously filtered by the MERV 8 filter.
The air flowing into the data center is filtered by MERV 11 or if possible, if possible, MERV 13 filter.
- In a data center equipped with an air side economy, the selection of a filter to achieve the cleanliness of the ISO class 8 is determined by the specific conditions in the data center.
- The phas e-t o-humidity of fine particle contamination must be 60 % or higher. 4
The data center has no zinc whisker. 5
- 1 ANSI/ISA-71. 04-1985. Environmental conditions for process measurement and control system: pollutants in the air.
- 2 The derivation of copper corrosion growth speed (å/ month) and weight gain speed in the thickness of corrosion products are CU
S and CU
Assume that O grows in an equal rate.23 Silver corrosio n-producing product thickness growth rate (å/ month) and weight increase rate are derivative of AG2Assume that only S is a corrosion product.
4. The relative humidity of the tide relative humidity of fine particle contamination is a relative humidity in which dust absorbs sufficient moisture and moisturizes, and promotes iontaking.25 From 10 data centers, the surface garbage is randomly collected on a 1. 5cm diameter sticking tape attached to a metal rod. Observe the adhesive tape with a scanning electron microscope, and if you can't find a zinc with a zinc, determine that the data center has no zinc wither.
